The Big Move
Every feeling from being sad to anticipated raced through my head like a nascar. I was getting ready to move in a couple months to Las Vegas, Nevada. A trip that consisted of being away from home 2,000 miles plus and counting. Thoughts of saying goodbye to everyone and packing just made it worse. Months went to days in a matter of seconds, it felt like. First, I was to make sure I had enough credits to walk that stage with the diploma I was working for for 12 years. School was always a hassle for me but I knew I was in the clear since senior year was a breeze because of 2 academic and 4 electives. Next was the aggravating packing stage, packed my stuff and stuffed my tiny car with clothes and memories. Finally after everything I woke up on June 9th, got dressed and walked down stairs. We all gathered outside to say our good byes, hugged my mom, both sisters, and patted my dogs head for the last time. Leaving the drive way everyone had a tear in their eye and it was just a sad environment. I don’t think my mind and my butt were actually ready for the 30 hour plus trip. I thought about going though all the states… Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, and finally arriving in Nevada. My head was about to explode trying to comprehend all that and we just left the house. Indiana and Illinois were up first, me and my dad took turns driving every fill up we did. At least Indian and Illinois felt like Michigan in some weird way, just being that close to Michigan actually made me feel like I was still at home. Iowa and Nebraska were up next and let me just say those states are by far the most boring. All you see are roads, open highway, trees, farmland, and cows. The only good
