She became a loyal friend to many, giving them hope. From the beginning she was curious and depressed on why her mom left her alone, her trust for people was very hard to get. She becomes friends with Hans who helps her through the night by relaxing her from the nightmares. And Rudy, who desperately wants to kiss her but she restrains. Liesel gets to know Max and begins to love him. Considering the following that he can't go outside, Liesel brings him snow that then afterwards he becomes sick from. She believes that she caused his pain, and shows loyalty by giving him presents when he was sick. She stays by him and when she stumbles upon something loose, she puts it next to his bed so when he wakes, he knows that Liesel loves him and she is sorry for his suffering. When Max leaves because he is in danger, Liesel promises herself that they'll be together again. And her promise doesn't break, again she sees him. Liesel didn't think she could love or trust someone in the beginning of the book, at the end of the book she experiences trust and loyalty towards others. Realizing that trust is most important among people, she forms loyal bonds with her new family and
