Brent Runyon
Brent Runyon, a fourteen year old boy was highly depressed. He was very intellectual, and had succeeded in many hard classes till third grade. He decided he didn’t like school anymore and wanted to be known. Brent was known as one of the funniest kids in school. He was a jokester and played many pranks on other students.
After an exciting day he tried to light a locker on fire. He ended up burning a shirt and destroying some property. Brent didn’t want to be known as a bad kid, so he became scared on what the authorities would do. He never fessed up to his accidental prank till much later.
He ran home and thought about suicide. He was scared. He was emotional. He was going insane. He got this “brilliant” idea to douse his bathrobe in gasoline and light himself on fire. He did just that. Once he felt his flesh getting hot and burning off to the bone he jumped in the shower to stop it. He then ran down the stairs in a major panic. Young fourteen year old Brent suffered from third degree burns on over eighty-five percent of his body.
He was rushed by helicopter to a hospital, and shortly afterwards sent to a burn unit. He spent over four months there getting treatments and slowly recovering. After sending skin to a growth lab he finally had enough skin to completely cover his body.
Brent was then transferred to other care centers around the state. He was more flexible, and able to move around. He progressively got better with his walk and being able to use all his muscles. Brent eventually got out of all his care centers and went home.
Brent found it difficult to be in his room or anywhere near the scene. He wanted to start over and never feel as depressed as he was again. He confessed to his accident and grew from it. He started to move on telling his family his feelings.
Brent then started going to school, he read books, he tried, and he succeeded. He wanted to be remembered as the good kid. He started writing novels

The act of book burning is not a new idea, in fact it has been preformed over 2000 years ago. From the time that books made appearances around the world, there would always be someone to burn them. Most of the time books were burned out of fear. Some feared that certain books would make others smarter than themselves. Others burned books that held certain truths in them that they did not wish for others to be aware of. And many held new ideas that were controversial to the time. Leaders feared that their followers would see logic in these ideas and would cause rebellion or conflicting thoughts than that of their leader, and thus diminishing his design of perfect rule. As in words of Winston Churchill "You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police. These terrify them. A little mouse - a little tiny mouse! - of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic." There are other reasons that books were burned as well.…
