In paragraph 3, it states, “Video game addiction can negatively impact his health… Children who spend more than two hours a day in front of a television or video games in lieu of participating in physical activity may suffer from childhood obesity.” (para. 3 Christopher) Also, in the paragraph it states, “Pain and numbness that you child may feel in his wrists, hands shoulders and elbows.” (para. 4 Christopher) I believe kids need to stop playing video games and go outside and enjoy life. Spend time with their family instead of being in the virtual world. Virtual is a fantasy, not real life. Children need to learn that and take video games less seriously. Secondly, when I play a lot of video games a day I always get headaches and backaches. The pain usually makes me lazy and tired. You definitely should be. Researchers found that kids who play too many hours on video games lack of their work in school. In paragraph 6 it states, “Long hours playing video games can negatively affect your child’s performance in school if he’s preoccupied with video games.” (para. 6 Christopher) Next, in paragraph 6 it states, “He (kid) can fail to work at his optimum level because he’s exhausted from a late night of video game playing.” What this means is the kid is not getting a full 8-10 hours of sleep. This can definitely affect how the child acts in school. He could be grumpy and tired. Also, the kids will have behavioral problems in school as well. Do you want that for your child? Then think about getting rid of video games. I would definitely not let my child play video games all night. So should you. Do you want your kids to lack school work and grades? Do you want your kids to pass high school? Make it through middle school? Make the video game stop

A research was done in Singapore that showed that children were impulsive and unstable in controlling their emotions (Netzley 61). “They were also more likely to be socially incompetent” (Netzley 61). Children were to act more hostile due to their game addiction and were simply not as sociable. The children’s hostile acts are drawn from their addiction and the video games that they play. Their inquisitive minds are linked to the video games. A risk factor from the consistency of video games includes impulses (Gentile). Gamers have a sudden feeling to continue to play, not being able to restrain themselves (See Fig. 1). They act as if video games are the most important thing in the world and cannot get enough of it. “However, gaming can easily get out of hand, causing people to lose sleep, skip work, and otherwise shirk responsibilities when they cannot control their impulse to play games” (Netzley 59). Gamers tend to forget about their daily lives and shift their minds completely on video games. They act as if video games are the only things that are developed in this world, when they could be doing other things, such as going outside. Limitations are strongly needed to decrease these obsessive…

Children are encouraged to spend at least 60 minutes out of a 24 hour day outside and video gaming is an addiction. One might say it's not until a parent sees that a child would rather sit inside and play video games all day than go outside and be active. Therefore, obesity and health problems are more likely to occur. This takes away from a child's physical ability by not playing outdoors, and giving them a nasty habit and calling it a "stress reliever".…

In 2010, Robert Weis and Brittany Cerankosky conducted a study to see how video games affect academic success. They selected a group of boys who didn’t own video games and assigned them to one of two conditions: the “video games now” group got a game system immediately, and the “video games later” group didn’t receive their systems until months later. The researchers tracked the boys’ academic success at school. They found that the boys who got their game systems immediately spent less time on schoolwork and, 4 months later, they got lower reading and writing scores. This makes sense, since more time spent playing video games means less time studying. Also, the distraction of video games can cause kids to lose interest in their studies and cause them to fall behind. These results line up with another survey done by Cummings and Vandewater in 2007, which concluded that kids aged 10-19 who played video games spent 30% less time reading and 34% less time doing homework. (Cummings & Vandewater)…
