Soon after WW1, Germany went bankrupt due to all the payments they needed to pay back to the other countries involved in WW1. These countries included France, England and the US. After Germany had paid back the money to France and England, ‘The Great Depression’ began. Germany needed a way to become wealthy again. To do so, Germany were forced to replace their President, Adolf Hitler was elected. He promised the German country that he would destroy these other countries and to not care about the ‘Treaty of Versailles’. This was the date that officially ended WW1. The ‘Treaty of Versailles’ was very unfair to Germany. This caused Germany to accept the blame for the loss and damage in France. Germany were forced to disarm their troops and army. They were forced to give up land to the surrounding nations of Germany. After all payments were paid, Germany were down 132 billion dollars. The three main men that were a part of the Treaty of Versailles were; Georges Clemenceau, Woodrow Wilson and David Lloyd George. These men were known as ‘The Big Three’. Georges Clemenceau was the Prime Minister of France, he demanded revenge towards Germany, Clemenceau wanted to make Germany weaker than the other countries for the problems that Germany had enforced on these other countries. Woodrow Wilson was the President of America and he wanted to end the war and make the world a safer place for everyone. David Lloyd George who was the Prime Minister of Britain at the time also wanted to make Germany pay for the damage done, he also wanted justice and to be able to expand the British power throughout Europe.
