but it didn’t really matter to much because Aaron doesn’t speak much in the first scene anyway he hands his handful being held captive by Titus and his sons. When Aaron first takes off his mask in the play I was surprised because his actor was bald and had things written in sharpie marker all over his face it caught me off guard because in the book the only thing the book said about Aarons appearance was basically that he was black nothing about having drawings on his face or being bald, His appearance wasn’t quite what I expected.
My favorite scene of the play was when Aaron set up Titus’s sons by setting a trap for one of them to fall into a pit where Bassianus’s corpse laid.
Knowing the other would come running to rescue other. Ultimately both brothers fell into the pit with the dead body making it seem like they murdered Saturninus younger brother Bassianus. Aaron also knew that Saturninus was short-tempered and that he would have both of Titus’s sons executed immediately without letting them explain themselves. After deceiving Saturninus Aaron then confronted Titus and lied to him saying that if he cut off his hand his 2 sons would be spared. Not knowing Aaron wasn’t trust worthy Titus acts with his heard and not his head and cuts on his hand, only to have it delivered back to him along with 2 of his sons heads. This was a scenes in the book that I really wanted to see how much different it would be then the mental picture I had in my head of the scene from reading the …show more content…
book.
The play had a lot of cool affects lighting changes for certain moments to set the mood, entrance music for the starting of different scenes all helping the audience relate better to how characters were feelings a specific scene.
Different lighting and changing of background music on stage will always show better emotion then explanation marks printed in a book. There were moments in the play where the lights would dim all the actors would freeze except one and you would get to go inside that one characters head and hear his thoughts on the situation that was currently happening in the play. It gave the audience a look inside one of the characters thoughts. I feel like they Aaron took advantage of this the most especially He usually used these lapses in time to show the audience what he was scheming.
The props that were used in the play all gave me a different look on the story that I would of never gotten if I had only ready the book. I haven’t read many of shakes spears plays but out of the ones that I’ve read this has become my favorite. After reading the book and watching going to see the play I feel like I’ve gained a different perspective now then did before only reading the book. The play was just as gory as the book you could see and feel the emotion from each and every scene something I could only picture in my head while reading the book it was complete different experience. Another reason I chose to see the play in person instead of just watching the movie is because I’m a person who learns and understands things better through a more hands on or visual approach. The story of Titus itself didn’t really make sense to me at first until I finished watching the play it just seemed like a lot of senseless killings for the irrational unproven reasons. But overall I liked the story and would recommend it to a friend, but only if they have a chance to see the play to and get the full experience of the story.
