Savagery in this case means that whoever did not act like a British person were immediately labeled as savages or in other words uncivilized (Bartholomew). British colonialism relates to the Cold War in the reason of that in way the Soviet Union was also colonized. The reason for this is because the United States along with other Western nations created a rivalry with Russia for the fact that their system was run under a communist system instead of a capitalist democracy system like the United States. The circumstances of World War II was the punishment of Germany at the end of World War I, Hitler’s goal to regain the pride and power of Germany, Japan’s goal of imperializing Asia, and lastly the memories of World War I caused nations to be cautious (“Cause of World War II”). The outcome of World War II were that Italy surrendered in 1943, Mussolini escapes and was captured as well as executed in April of 1945, Hitler commits suicide on April 30, 1945, Germany surrenders in May of 1945, Japan surrenders in September of 1945, Soviet Union controls East Germany and East Berlin, and the Iron Curtain divides Europe into two (“Outcomes of WW2”).
