starts feeling love for Gabe and Fiona. Members in The Community is just like everyone else.Being somewhere or living somewhere that everyone and everything is the exactly the same would be standard. Citizens of the community cannot see color. They can only see black and white. The majority of the communities people have dark eyes. Wearing colored or patterned clothing shows something about yourself. To make the people in the community realize that you can be, wear, and do things whatever or however you want. When a committee decides an individual's fate many freedoms are lost.
The citizens of the community have no say on what they think about any decision. The communities committee are basically observers. Watching the residents every move. When it comes time to the ceremony of 12. The committee has to pick which assignment the 11s will be assigned. This process takes about 4 years of observing and interviewing people that know the individual knows. Having a community that only has a limited amount of people picking and choosing what the rules are could create many issues if people had emotions. To make this situation better the communities people should be able to vote or share their feelings on the rules trying to be
made. The creators of the community thought eliminating emotions, choices, and the ability to be different would create a more efficient utopia. But the implications for emotionless society detract from our true human nature. The community is an unhealthy place to live. Some of the major aspects of freedom, specifically striving for sameness, no decision making powers, and a lack of emotions explain why Jonas was so curious and ardent in his struggle to leave The Community. Thankfully these are not characteristics of American values.
