Explain the concept of an equal society
In an equal society everyone would be accepted, they would all have their own personality and would be free to express it in whichever way they want to and everyone would have the same benefits and services offered to them within society but that’s only If we had an equal society. In the world we live in there are many different problems that we face. In the UK we have many differences such as wealth, prosperity and life chances of an individual, despite the wealth and government initiatives that are put into place. Currently we still face prejudice, stereotyping, labelling, discrimination, marginalisation and even social exclusion these are all things that people face in day to day life through no fault of their own people can face these different things because of the age, race , gender, social status, and even sexuality.
Prejudice
prejudice is the irrational and pre-conceived ideas that cause difficulties with accepting others. These are usually baseless and therefore have reason or past experience causing them. Prejudice is normally unjustified or incorrect this is usually negative and can be towards a social group. prejudice can usually be linked with discrimination as prejudice is the thoughts and ideas that someone has towards another person and discrimination is when the person decides that they want to act upon the thoughts that they have had. For example, a person could have certain prejudice views towards a certain race or gender etc. (e.g. sexist, racist)

Discrimination is the behavior or actions that will more than likely have a negative effect towards an individual or group of people these will normally be on the basis of sex, race, sexual orientation, social class.
