I hate public speaking. What’s the point of it? All it does is force people to unwillingly say something against their will. It’s “fun” they all said. It’s good to share your ideas with people. But do I look like I’m having fun right now? No. Do I look like I’m up here talking to you because I want to? No. Canada is supposed to be a free country. A country where we’re allowed to do anything, be our own person without anybody forcing us. But this, public speaking? This isn’t freedom. This is the opposite of what Canada as a country stands for. Even now, if you look closely, my hands are shaking from fear, and I’m looking at my speech through tears. And yet teachers are still forcing public speaking into lessons, and mark us on it. A popular defense for this, as said by accredited psychologist, is by ridding yourself of public speaking, you are instead making the fear worse. Instead you should practice it more and more, and get used to it, and make your mind get used to it. Ridiculous! These reasons aren’t relevant at all. And it is mostly introverts who dislike public speaking so much. According to an experiment made in the 1990’s, introverts make up 51% of the worlds population. Introverts that dislike public speaking make up 25% of the world. Thats 1.75 billion people who prefer listening and absorbing information to being forced to
