When companies invest in computers they provide training to make sure the investment pays off, but don’t do the same for health care. Companies invest millions of dollars into healthcare. They should be doing things to ensure their employees are healthy. Everyone can always be healthier and providing the proper motivation can be very beneficial since employees spend a good amount of their time in the office. Creating incentives for healthy behavior is a smart idea although some people may think this is unfair……if you spend a lot of money on something wouldn’t you make it a priority to make sure it’s taken care of and
This article s spot on with the six points companies can start doing to help them stay healthy. Filling cafeterias and vending machines with healthy foods is very beneficial to the company. Employees spend a lot of their time at the office. If the company only offers healthy options it could be the motivation they need to start eating right. After eating clean for a good amount of time your body doesn’t enjoy the junk food as much. Junk food also makes you very sluggish and tired. If they offer junk food at the workplace they are encouraging the employees to become tired and lazy. Clean eating at the office could inspire the employees to bring the healthy eating to their home life.
The strongly believe the next point that the workplace should be smoke free. Employees who don’t smoke should not be punished with the second hand smoke. Smokers should not be allowed to have smoke breaks. At my company many of the employees smoke. Many of them take a seven minute smoke break twice in an hour. It is really unfair to the non smoking employees. Not only is it unfair, but they are clearly doing less work then the non smokers.
