In The Crucible there is a character named Abigail; she is the antagonist of the play. She had an affair with John Proctor. (married man and protagonist of the play). Throughout the play Abigail has her mind focused on getting John Proctor to marry her. She lies and manipulates the town people into believing that certain people are witches and gets them hung in order for her to get closer to her ultimate goal which is to have John Proctor to herself. I don’t agree with the things she does but I do applaud her for going after the thing she really wanted. She does everything in her power to achieve her goal. It is about two people who have a lot in common but are too afraid to show their true colors. They looked for other people that were like them and they finally passed by each other and never knew that they were exactly alike. They were not being true to themselves therefore they missed out on an amazing encounter. The message I received from this poem is to always be true to yourself; never try and be someone else because you are unique and there are people who are looking for your unique personality.
