The Difference In The Field Of Social Work

This is a question that hits home for me. Everyone peruses this field for a reason. People generally don’t peruse this field for money. Social workers work tremendously hard, and most of all they are passionate. Social workers strive for social change. Something I’ve always said, and I’m sure many others too. Just making a difference in one person’s life is a great success. I first decided to enter the field of social work when I was in high school right after I lost my dad. My dad died when I was 16. He struggled with alcoholism my whole life. His cause of death was cirrhosis of the liver. When he died, I was angry. I didn’t know why he couldn’t just stop drinking, for us. I was then 16, with out a father. So, I began studying and learning.
Then I enrolled in college for social work. I have since learned so much, and accepted my father’s death. I am at a point now that I understand addiction and alcoholism. I hope to now spread my knowledge onto others in similar situations.
