Femme Fatale is a woman that is intelligence and has sex appeal and she uses these skills to manipulate men into doing what she wants (“Femme Fatale”, 2003). Venetian Blinds are used to make it look like the character is imprisoned with whatever is going on in there life (Park 55-8). Analepsis is a narrative device that is used in Film Noir and is when the chronological sequence of events is out of order (“The Function of Chiaroscuro Lighting and Analepsis in Double Indemnity”, 2008) (“Analepsis, 2009). The different types of angles that are used in Film Noir are dutch, Inverted, long, high, and low angles. These angles are used to show which characters are inferior or superior to others, while other angles are used to create suspense of tension. These are only some of the conventions, there are plenty more to go off of, but these seem to be the ones that are used more frequently and are more straightforward. After having this knowledge of the conventions of Film Noir I would attempt to analyze three films and answer the following question: To what extent do the films pulp fiction (1994), Memento (2000), and blood simple (1984) represent Film …show more content…
The movie begins with two robbers: Ringo and Yolanda in a diner and they are about to rob the diner, but then it freezes. Then it shows the gangsters: Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield heading off on a mission from their boss to retrieve a suitcase. They arrive at the destination and find the young drug dealers that tried to mess with the gangsters boss, they end up shooting the drug dealers and retrieving the suitcase. On the way back the two gangsters are arguing and one of them accidently shoots a friend of theirs in the face. They take the car and the body to their friends Jimmy’s house. Their friend Jimmy contracts a cleaner he comes to the house and makes the gangsters clean up the mess that they made and the cleaner gets rid of the body and the car. They end up at a diner where Jules tells his partner Vincent that he is quitting his life of crimes due to the way his life was spared earlier, he believed it was a sign from God to change his life around. Then Vincent and Jules boss tells one of them to take his wife out and Vincent is the one that takes her out, while they are out he finds her very attractive. Vincent and Mia leave the restaurant and go back to her place, while Vincent goes into the bathroom to remind himself that he has to keep his hands off of her she finds a little bag of white powder and she thinks it is cocaine and snorts it, but in reality it was heroin. When he comes out
