The Disadvantages of Human Genome Project

Genome aims determining of chemical bases of DNA and with this way it can help to find out the differences between people and also the genetical disease can be understood with this way. Because of this, all scientists and people are curious about this Project. At first, when people are heard about this issue, they can consider that this is perfect to learn their genome sequence because they can learn their all qualities and genetical disease in their genome sequence. When they can detect genetic disease in it, possible treatments may be discovered to avoid from them. These are the some advantages of HGP. This issue has some disadvantages, too. Discovering the genome sequence can cause to learn untreatable genetic disease in people’s future, it will damage people in psychological field. Therefore, it affects their remaining life. They will not try to live better. Their life standards will decrease and they can start to damage their health before the disease. Another aspect of HGP is that it may become as dangerous as atomic bomb which used in Hiroshima. These types of projects always start for benefit of human beings and to increase their health conditions and life standards. HGP can become dangerous for human health because when it starts to sequence a person's genome for low amount of money, people can use this without the permission of owner. As an example; if employer can reach the genome sequence of his workers it may create discrimination between people and it can damage people’s psychological state. When I look this issue for my own, I would like to know my genome sequence. Disease that I want to investigate will be the lung cancer because there are a lung cancer people in my family. I may try to modify my life style. With this way, I may protect myself from this cancer. However, it can be also in opposite way, too. If I learn that I have this cancer gene, I may become a reluctant person toward the life. People can think that what they did, does not change
