The biggest problem facing leaders currently is that there is not a clear and ethically sound theory that allows for the use of torture on POWs that can be justified in every situation. In the case of torture, there is no good solution that covers every situation without some form of a compromise. “Torture is a problem from hell. It tortures us by putting cherished principles on the rack and forcing us to give into exceptions.” The torturing of any POW is wrong but if it means saving the lives of innocent people, then we must use whatever means necessary to protect them. Torture threatens to overturn our principles and undermine our integrity if we are not careful. I don’t think that torture should be completely out of the question when dealing with extreme scenarios, but it is important for any leader to completely
