The First Time I could feel the sweat repeatedly beating off my forehead. My heart was vigorously pounding out of my chest, while the blood flushed throughout my body. I was caught in a daze and had to snap back to reality, while trying to figure out what had just happened to me. Was this real life? Did what I think just happened, happen? Why can’t I feel parts of my body? Numerous questions were zipping through my head all at the same time. It was the wonderful, nature filled month of October. The month of change, where the leaves just about turn over to a nice, crisp orange color that people from all around wait to see. This seemed to have set the mood for the whole entire month and what was going to happen just the first day into the month. I just finished the school day and was making my way to meet up with my friend, John. He has been a close friend of mine since freshman year – good guy. We would usually car pool together to save on gas and hung out after school most days, so it worked out pretty well. I met up with John in the hall and we made our way to his car in the dirt plateau parking lot of the high school. As John and I left the high school, we popped in some tunes as the car warmed up. I always wondered why they never paved this parking lot, but maybe there was a fair reason behind it. But either way, that did not change the weather that day. It was cloudy, dark, and very rainy, and there was certainly no sign of it letting up anytime soon. So as we buckled up and all the kids rushed to their cars, I had this sense of difference. I could feel something happening subconsciously that I could not describe. It was as if I knew something was going to happen soon. Something that was very significant in my life, but I could not place whether it was good or bad at the time. I am sure we all have had these moments at one time or another in our lives. I know this was not my first time with this certain experience or feeling. But
