The Fisherman And The Jin Knee Analysis
“The Fisherman and the Jinnee”

A long time ago, there was a poor fisherman who used to cast his net four times a day. One day, when he first cast his net, he found a dead donkey in it. He said, “By Allah, this is a strange catch!” but he cast his net again, invoking Allah’s help. This time, he discovered a large earthen vessel in his net. Angrily, he threw the vessel away and tried casting his net again but when he lifted it, he just found bones and broken glass inside. Before making his last endeavor he said, “Allah knows that I cast my net only four times a day. I have already cast it for the third time and caught no fish at all.Surely He will not fail me again!” after that, he threw his net to the sea. In this last attempt, the fisherman caught a bottle made of yellow copper, it might have not been fish, but he thought he could sell it in the market for at least ten pieces of gold.

The fisherman removed the bottle’s seal and shook the bottle but, as soon as he did that, a huge column of smoke rose to the heavens and, when it took form, the fisherman noticed it was a jinnee. By Allah, I will load him with honors and he shall henceforth be my companion and trusted friend.” and the King kept doing as he said. However, the King’s generosity towards the Doctor Duban was not well received by one of his viziers. This wretch was envious of the doctor and decided to plan his

He wasn’t sure he could eat all six of the strips that he cut. He felt a strong urge to feed the great fish, his brother of the sea. Come on, hand, he thought. I need you very much and I don’t know how you could do this terrible thing to me. While rubbing his hand against his thigh to loosen the muscles, a seemingly unending mass shot up through the placid glass surface of the ocean and white, and foaming sea water gushed up with the beast, soaking Santiago.…

They pulled up the line to find an enormous fish on the hook. The eldest hunter leaned over the hole to thank the spirits for the food. He had just finished speaking when, to their surprise, the water spoke, “No thanks needed” it said. Then a gigantic sand shark flopped onto the ice. The three hunters licked their lips out of hunger. It spoke, “Please do not eat me, for I am the reason you have this fine fish.” Then it jumped back into the water. Day after day the hunters came back again and again to have mounds of fish dumped upon them. One day the sand shark asked for something in return. “I ask only one thing, that you make me the symbol of your tribe.” it said. The hunters kept their end of the bargain and made the sand shark the symbol of my people. And that is why the sand shark is honored by my clan to this…

I will use those dietary regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgment, and I will do no harm or injustice to them. I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion. In purity and according to divine law will I carry out my life and my art. I will not use the knife, even upon those suffering from stones, but I will leave this to those who are trained in this craft. Into whatever homes I go, I will enter them for the benefit of the sick, avoiding any voluntary act of impropriety or corruption, including the seduction of women or men, whether they are free men or slaves. Whatever I see or hear in the lives of my patients, whether in connection with my professional practice or not, which ought not to be spoken of outside, I will keep secret, as considering all such things to be private. So long as I maintain this Oath faithfully and without corruption, may it be granted to me to partake of life fully and the practice of my art, gaining the respect of all men for all time. However, should I transgress this Oath and violate it, may the opposite be my fate. (U.S. National Library of Medicine, 2014)…

I awoke in the early hours of the morning as usual. The air was thick and wet, but the day’s hunt wouldn’t wait. I got up and stretched my legs before checking the traps I set the evening before. The forest seemed unsettlingly too quiet. Did I wake up earlier than I usually would have? I walked down to the waterhole, to see if any of my nets were filled. There was a soft mist over the shallows, creating an ominous feel. I checked up and down the banks, but my nets had all vanished. With the sounding of the raven’s caw, I decided to head back up to camp. I heard a quick rattle in the leaves due east of my position, so I made haste to draw my bow and hold her steady in firing position. My breath was heavy as the musk in the air poured into my lungs.…

A ship lost at sea for many days suddenly sighted a friendly vessel. From the mast of the unfortunate vessel was seen a signal,“Water, water; we die of thirst!” The answer from the friendly vessel at once came back, “Cast down your bucket where you are.” A second time the signal, “Water, water; send us water!” ran up from the distressed vessel, and was answered, “Cast down your bucket where you are.” And a third and fourth signal for water was answered, “Cast down your bucket where you are.” The captain of the distressed vessel, at last heeding the injunction, cast down his bucket, and it came up full of fresh, sparkling water from the mouth of the Amazon River. To those of my race who depend on bettering their condition in a foreign land or who underestimate the importance…
