He’s trying to convince the audience with his real-life experiences, because his experience enables the reader to better understand how his first language writing is different from the English writing, and how much he struggled due to the differences. Furthermore, since it’s an autobiography, there aren’t that many reliable evidence out there for him to use it, which is why he only used his experience as an evidence.
