The Cold War happened during the world War 2, the UNited States and the Soviet union fought as allies against the Axis powers. The Cold War supposedly never heated up into actual armed conflict. So it was never really a war. There were wars involved like Korea and Afghanistan or United States and the USSR. That relationship was real tense. This war for geopolitical reasons. The cold war is !ore like a time period from 1945 to 1990. After WW2, the United States and USSR were the only two nation that had a power left. The United States was so much with its atomic weapons. The plan was to use US Aid to combat the economic instability that provided fertile fields for communism. It was a New Deal for Europe and it had worked. Western Europe was rebuilt so but the 1950, production's levels in industry had increase dramatically and Europe was a proud consumer. Japan was already rebuilt. MacArthur forced Japan to adopt a new constitution. It allows women to vote, Japan would forswear war, in exchange United States protection. It also allowed them to spend them money on other industry things.
At the end if the war German were split into the East and West. Even though Berlin was the capital and mostly East , it was also divide into the East and West. West Berlin dependent on shipments from West Germany through East Germany until 1948, Stalin cut off the roads to West Berlin. So, the Americans responded but using an 11 month airlift of supplies that eventually leading Stalin to lift the blockade in 1948 and the building of the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall was built in 1961.
The Soviets detonate their first atomic bomb, NATO was established, the Chinese Revolution ended in Communist victory.
