At this point one may be asking themself, “ok, but why aren’t any average people running”? The simple answer? No average person could afford to do so. According to The Caucus, a political blog run by the New York Times, running for president is very expensive, with many of the numbers reaching into the higher millions. The future head of our government falls behind a price tag, our voices are drowned out by blaring advertisements and capitalistic tendencies. For the common man to get his voice heard he needs to elect someone with the kind of cash needed to be heard above the commercials. Even then, it can be difficult to find someone who’s ideologies we can stand behind. Someone we can trust to vote in our best interest when it’s needed. This is why more often than not, people tend to hide behind political parties, a group of people who more or less agree on certain things. This is why people might not even consider looking at the other candidate, because it’s easier to place your faith in someone who runs under the same label you’ve placed
