The novel Anthem is is an easy read for young people due to feeling controlled, and not being able to do what they want. With the differences tho comes similarities, in the film Jonas expressed his thoughts on gaining control and being allowed his freedom. “We gained control of many things, but we had to let go of others.” (Phillip Noyce, The Giver) The meaning of the quote is that in order to gain knowledge and control, you have to be willing to let other things go. As a teen, it can be very hard to want to let something go, even though something better may come out of it. In both novels/films they let their thoughts go to discover a new beginning, and a new shot at their future.
