The Giver By Lois Lowry
The Giver is a fiction book written by Lois Lowry. The main character, Jonas, lives in a town where everything is perfectly structured and nothing is out of place. December is approaching, which means that the Coming of Age ceremonies are coming up, and Jonas is worried about his ceremony. He is turning twelve, which is when kids receive their job assignments. During dinner, Jonas’s family shares their feelings. Jonas’s father says that he is concerned about a newborn named Gabe, who is having trouble with his development. His father decides to bring him home to see if that would have any effect on his sleeping habits, since Gabe can't sleep through the night. When the Coming of Age ceremony for Twelves arrives, Jonas is nervous and excited.

    The Giver is about an eleven-year-old boy named Jonas is a light-eyed boy who lives in a Utopian society. Within his society, there is no suffering, no hunger, no war, no color, and no love. There is no uniqueness and everyone is, in essence, the same. No one leaves the community unless they are released, which normally only happens to elderly adults, sick infants, or those choosing to break the rules. When the children turn twelve, they are assigned professions.
