Jonas is told to leave the community so he will not affect others with his ability to feel different things than others.
The day he needs to leave, a young boy named Gabriel, is supposed to get “released” from the community for lack of development. So Jonas secretly takes Gabriel with him on his journey. A lot more goes on in the story but i would suggest reading it yourself. This selection would be the most suitable for ages ten to fifteen years old. The reason being, there is a lot of action and humor that may not be suitable for all ages. The authors created an amazingly unique story. I think that the authors target audience are for mid-teen ages. I think this because it has a lot of big words and some action that might not be suitable for ages ten and younger. The author did an impeccable job, making the story flow along. Everything made sense throughout the story and i never had to pause and say to myself, “What is the author trying to say through his words here?” A quote that i think can summarize the book very well is, “The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It's
the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared.” I really enjoyed this quote because i can feel the emotion that the author out into it. I can relate with the author. Another thing that i enjoyed about this story is the way the author cconnects himself to his characters. When reading quotes from the book, i know that the author really thought about his words. For example the quote, “We gained control of many things. But we had to let go of others.” I really enjoy this quote. It makes us think about what he could be saying. It makes us use our imagination for the rest of the story. It changes our perspective of the story. This selection was very interesting to read and i look forward to reading it again. I would definitely recommend it! Very well put together book and very unique topic. I cannot wait to read the sequals.
