The Horsemen War: A Short Story
Out of nowhere I heard clapping, or at least it's what I thought it was. When I turned around I saw a knight clad in Red. “ Rafael Război you have passed the test, that means that you are The Horsemen War, you will find the other Horsemen before he comes or else all hope is lost.” The Knight said “ Um, okay, are you crazy.” I asked a little skeptical of the weird person that showed up out of nowhere. As I was backing up I didn’t see the rock I was about to trip over before it was too late, as I was feeling the horse caught me with her head and set me back up on my feet. “ Thank you.” I said, the horse tipped her head and backed up. I turned and looked at the knight a little frightened of it. The knight reached it’s arms up, I flinched back a little and it froze, Then returned to moving putting its hands on the helmet and took it off. Under the helmet was a beautiful young women who look like she has gone to the underworld and back. …show more content…

My primary source is Commentarii de Bello Gallico (Commentaries on the Gallic Wars). This primary source is a series of eight books, looking at firsthand account of the Gallic Wars, written in a first and third-person narrative. The eighth of these books was written after Caesar’s death by Aulus Hirtius. The search for this primary source was short and sweet due to it being one of the first things to pop up when I Googled “Primary source of the Roman Gallic Wars”.…

In “The Long Shadow of War” Terrance Hayes considers what makes someone family while discussing the time he not only found out his ‘father’ was not his blood, but also when he first met his birth father. He makes the claim that “the word father had nothing to do with blood.” Later he writes “I wondered how much of who my brother was had to do with blood.” In both of these instances he questions whether or not blood is what makes someone family, while also discussing how both of his fathers had served in the military.…

According to John Gottman, “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” are behaviors that, if they occur regularly, are very good predictors of either a failed or a terminally unhappy relationship. The “Four Horsemen” are criticism which includes attacking the others personality or character. Second is contempt, is composed of a set of behaviors that communicate disgust. Any normal grandmother would visit you with open arms, chocolate chip cookies, and comment on how amazing you look. However, in Mare’s War, by Tanita Davis, Mare is not your average grandma (unless you consider normal grandmas to wear auburn wigs, stiletto heels, and padded push up bras). Therefore, Mares granddaughters, Octavia and Tali, are dreading to accompany their 80 year old grandmother on a road trip across the country. As the three travel further into their journey, they begin to build a closer relationship and understand Mare’s past. Mare’s War was written in a particular fashion to express two different point of views. One is in the past representing Mare’s perspective, while the other is given from her 15 year-old granddaughter Octavia, during the present. Ultimately, both sides represent the struggle of equality: Mare’s battle of racism in the past, and Tali’s judgemental thoughts of her sister, today.…

Feelings of foreboding flooded his senses as the hair on the back of his neck stood out. Someone had listened to his conversation, and was residing in the shadows of his room. How had he not sensed this before? “Whoever is here, step forward. Do so quickly or face my wrath.” A tall, muscular man stepped forward. A knight, he surmised, wearing jade colored armor with a coat of arms on his chest plate that he did not recognize, figures of two fighting dragons adorned his gauntlets, and in his hands, he threateningly…

For a story to be considered a true war story, according to Tim O’Brien in his book The Things They Carried, it has to fit specific parameters set up by O’Brien himself. There has to be no moral, no generalizations, no covering up the brutality of war, and it doesn't have to be real. The characters and plot points don't have to be real or even believable this is true, however the story does have to portray real feelings and emotions about war, and not try to fancy it up by saying it is awful or it is hell, this—according to Tim O’Brien—is a generalization and what ruins war stories. The Quinton Tarentino film “Inglorious Basterds” fits all of these requirements for what Tim O’Brien would call a true war story.…

It is better to have original and authentic ideas, rather than to mirror someone else and hide in their shadow of greatness. Ideas can come from anywhere, they can be about anything and the ideas of The Wednesday Wars is the concept of architecture. Carlos narrates his own experiences during his childhood when social and political problems are happening. The time period is during the regime of the government of Miguel Aleman.
