The Importance of English Language in basic Education
CHAPTER 1
The Problem
Introduction
Language means many things to people. It is the systematic means to communication. It is the way through which we could express our ideas, thoughts and feelings. It is very important to each one of us in order to understand one another. It is one way to be connected to people we love like our family, friends, relatives and people we meet along the way. It can help build up new relationship to others. One cannot live without language. He or she is not capable of mingling with others. Different to other living beings men are able to communicate using spoken are written words. During the past centuries languages became more and more able to express even difficult facts. And human language made it easier to build up communities connected and united by the same words for the same things. a common language helped to formulate the first laws but even more important it made possible to hand over stories and the many results of our actions, altogether language made possible to hand down all these things as what we call history today.
But language had an important side effect as it enabled human beings to tell each other our deepest feelings and impressions. Language had not a common evolution. Depending on many different influences different languages come up and gained importance and lost it again, many times a huge political power favored a language. In our times two languages have an outstanding meaning as millions or even billions of people are able to communicate using these languages. The one of these two languages is Chinese, the other one is English.
In our country it is possible to communicate using Filipino but like in many other countries, too, we use English when it comes to talk about more difficult facts, many technical manuals are available in English language only, the wide world of the internet opens its doors wider to English speaking people. Next to this the fantastic treasure of the international literature
