The Importance Of Giving Back To The Community
I believe that giving back to the community is important because the town I reside in has turned me into the person I am currently. I also think that I need to give back to my family and friends because they have played essential components in my growing, the land because it has provided me with the materials I will need to live and my district for showing me the correct way people should be treated.

The first person I would give back to is my mother because throughout my whole life she has been the one to support me the most. She has always been at my side whether it's at the softball field or in a classroom. My mother is a teacher so she has high expectations all the time. When I get Cs she always gives me lectures because she knows that I am capable of greater work. Although at the time I hate the long speeches, I later learn that she was saying it for the greater good. Her talks motivate me to do better in school and because of that I got my first 4.0 last quarter. My mom is such a hard worker and she never gives up, which is why she is one of my biggest inspirations. I will give back to her by graduating both high school and college then becoming successful. Even though going to college out of state will force me to assimilate with new cultures, I will do it to make my mom proud.

Serving the community is a very important thing to me, not just within the school community, but also into the Kenyan community. Beginning from my childhood, anytime I would go upcountry, I would always carry a bag of sweets to give to the impoverished children I would find, or carry my keyboard along with me to play the children songs in Church. I believe that I have nurtured these simple acts of service into my spending of several weeks this past few summers volunteering at the Nest, which is an orphanage for young children. Growing up, my parents have taught me the value of giving, that because I am privileged, I should always give back to society. My times at the Nest continue to teach me how reaching out to others although it might be hard to relate, is so rewarding.…

Should the United States require all adults to perform one year of community service by the age of 30? I personally think this is a topic that is not at all, relevant. I believe if someone wants to lend a helping hand, then they should lend a helping hand. If you don't prefer to do this kind of community service, the government shouldn't force you to do so. There would be a lot of change in how community service is done today if the government required at least one year to be served by the age of 30.…

There are many aspects of parks, recreation and leisure that interest me. I am particularly interested in the conservation and continued expansion of our park system. The rich cultural history and natural beauty the parks provide are vital to our country. Growing up in the rural south, where resources were often scarce, my family depended on local, state and national parks for a great deal of our leisure and recreation. We spent many summers exploring, camping and canoeing the parks in our surrounding areas. This time spent in those protected spaces allowed me to see the world from a new perspective, realizing it was much larger than the dirt road where I grew up.…

In America we are very fortunate, the majority of the population is blessed with food to eat and a roof over their heads and the comforting promise of freedom and protection. Our country is solely based on the income and output of families and large corporations; the wealth of our nation allows most of the population to live comfortably. Being raised in a home where past generation family traditions and values are present; coming together to eat dinner and share in conversation, taking a trip to Brazil the summer of my junior change my perspective on life and the world as a whole. I traveled to Brazil with a group of fifteen young people and five leaders from our church set out on a mission of sharing the good news of Jesus.…
