Although guns are good in some uses and protection, I think that guns should not be allowed because More than 500 children die annually from accidental gunshots. Some shoot themselves, while others kill friends or siblings after discovering a gun. Here are more scary stats: Americans own 200 million firearms, and 35 percent of homes contain at least one gun. Last year, a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found more than 1.7 million children live in homes with loaded and unlocked guns. A recent study published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found 39 percent of kids…

Many Americans believe that Gun-Control Laws should be enforced, because “Individuals do not need guns for protection; it is the role of local and federal government to protect the people through law enforcement agencies and the military.” (http://www.StudentNewsDaily.com) All Individuals deserve the right to carry a gun with them at all times, to use for protection. According to the Second Amendment in the Constitution, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” (https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/second_amendment) Obtaining a gun, gives one the sense of feeling safe and protected given any situation. No one knows when they may be “attacked” or in danger, and the protection they need from the government may not always be there to protect them. Every American must learn self-defense and use it when needed, they shouldn’t have to rely and anyone but themselves.…
The U.S. has been in a hot debate over a tough issue for hundreds of years now. The subject of that debate is gun control laws. With mass murders and break-ins happening all over America it brings up two groups of people. One group believes taking away the guns will solve the problem. I believe, along with lots of other people, that taking away the guns will not solve the problem. We need to protect our Second Amendment, as well as ourselves, and stick to our guns.…
Chicago is a city that has enforced very strict gun laws in order to lessen crime rates. However, despite all their limits and restrictions, Chicago has a high number of gun-related crimes. As a matter of fact, according to Chicago Police, 20% of the 1375 guns retrieved from criminal activities from 2008 to 2012 were purchased from a single shop called Chuck’s Gun Shop, just a few miles away from the city in the village of Riverdale, Illinois. This shows that despite all the strict gun laws in Chicago, criminals are still able to find a way to retrieve firearms through neighboring cities and states to commit their crimes. It illustrates how stricter gun laws must be enforced throughout the entire nation to ensure that criminals will not be able…
Most people have heard of the tragic shoting that happened on December 14, in Newtown, Connecticut. A depressed and insane gunman walked into Sandy Hooks Elementary and opened fire on children and teachers. He took the life of twenty-six innocent civilians before turning his gun on himself. Because of the shooting, gun control laws have been the center of political debate inside of the U.S. Most attention is focused on the United States proposed gun control laws announced yesterday by president Barack Obama.…
“No freeman shall be debarred the use of arms within his own land,” stated Thomas Jefferson. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution defends the right of the people to keep and bear arms and was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments contained in the Bill of Rights. This right should continue to be protected. The right to bear arms is a fundamental right that provides protection to American citizens and their families.…
One major modern-day political issue our country is suffering from are gun control laws. Gun controls law now are much different than what they were many years ago; because of school shootings like Columbine and Sandy Hook, there have now been security guards and metal detectors in schools to stop more school shootings from happening. But just because of that, it won't stop misuse of guns all together, so this is why a lot of people are arguing about getting gun laws under…
We’ve all seen it in the newspapers- kids accidently killing their family, their friends, or even themselves. A pure, innocent life should not be taken because of the parent’s careless mistake of keeping a gun at easy access for children. In the recent years, this has been becoming a problem, especially for family with youthful kids. Young children should not be taught how to handle guns because they don’t have the understanding that a gun can potentially kill or seriously injure someone, they’re constantly being exposed to violent movies/videogames, and most kids do not know the difference between real and fake guns.…

“People can have the right to held their weapons to protect their freedom”, which is Americans belief and right given by the constitution. With this belief, The United States might be the only developed country which widely allowed its citizens holding guns. The custom of holding a guns caused the cowboy culture, which leaded americans have expanded and developed their country to be the most powerful country in the world today. However, today’s American is not the country of cowboys anymore. As a consequence of the 2nd Amendment in today’s America, the gun shooting has been a big threat to the public security. It’s the time to reexamine the gun culture’s affection, whether the guns still provided protection it was expected. Especially to Iowa people, they may need to really think about this question although they have the most optimistic environment of holding guns, because the risk never appears today might be realized tomorrow.…
The key element to note when focusing on gun policy, per both law and public opinion, children and youth are a special case. This puts the youth and kids at great harm, and are left wife open to the gun violence. We should be able to create awareness in the society about the huge negative impacts of gun violence in the streets and at the homes in America. The government and local people of the community must come together to understand that it takes lot of effort and research to make a significant positive for the safety and well- being of the youth and the…
Thomas Jefferson one of our founding fathers once said that “Laws that forbid the carrying of arms only disarm those who are neither inclined or determined to commit crimes”. Gun control laws have been around since the 1800’s ,with the fist law coming into play in 1870.That first law about firearms stated that you would need a license if you wished to carry your firearms outside of your own home and property. Then in the 1900’s a law passed to help insure the safety of other. That law passed in 1903 and it stated that firearms could not be sold to the drunken or the mentally insane and unstable. Evidence has proven that more gun control laws would not be beneficial to the public and would not help reduce the amount of violent crimes being committed with guns.…
Guns started in China about one thousand years ago, but have been evolved in order to be more efficient in the amount and quality of ammunition shot as well as the accuracy and power of the guns. Gun use in America began when the nation was first colonized. The purpose of the guns were to help the colonists with gathering pelts and food, and defending them from attacks. Older guns were equipped with ammunition that was loaded into the gun from the muzzle, giving them their nickname muzzle loaders, and the hammer on the gun struck a flash pan that held gunpowder. These guns, known as muskets, have since been upgraded enough to have more advanced guns such as a Mossberg five hundred or an AR fifteen.…
