1. One of the favourite gods of the Algonquin Indians was Glooskap. His name means ‘’ The Liar’’. When the Indians called him by this names it meant to pay him a very high compliment. He fought against monsters, the witch, giants, magicians etc. after that when his last victory pleased him mightily, and the next day he walked through the forest finding more evil creatures to destroy them. He entered the wigwam of an Indian but, the man was absent, and he saw his wife with her baby Wasis sucking piece of sugar. Glooskap told the women about his victories, she laughed aloud she dared Glooskap a creature her baby and, dared him you will never conquer him first time. He tried to talk to the baby, just ignored him that was very insulting, he grew up and rushed from the hut, when a baby cries ‘’GOO GOO’’ Indians say that he is remembering how Wasis successfully resisted the great god Glooskap.…
In the Ural School’s portrayal of The Entry into Jerusalem on panel, we immediately look towards the focal point of the painting. There we see a man wearing red and blue drapery with an Aureole (decorated in gold leaf) around his head; the golden halo, the use of red color (symbolizing the presence of god and strength), and blue color (symbolizing good health and human beings) allows us to recognize this figure as Jesus Christ. Christ is seen wearing a red garment with a blue garment wrapped around on the outside, this is to represent that he began as God and became human while you can view his apostles wearing the opposite colors; representing that they began as humans and have come closer to God (”Icons: Symbolism In Color.” 1).…
Furthermore, Wharton characterizes Mattie as the archetypical Snow White, including “a cloud of dark hair about her forehead” and “dark eyes” (Wharton…
Snow White was presented to the public in 1937, a girl with no parents only to be raised by her stepmother, who was filled with envy so much as to kill her daughter. Snow White was kind, beautiful and filled with innocence so much that even the huntsman spared her life. She tells the story of someone longing to find her true love and after all the obstacles she faces she is found by her stepmother who has transformed into an old lady and poisons snow white, her seven dwarfs are then left to grieve until she is finally brought back to life and reunited with her prince after her true loves kiss. He showed the world something different like dealing with death and in the resurrection with true loves kiss. In a time when people were still in the great depression Walt gave us hope he showed us…
This topic of course has been a discussion almost since the introduction of Christianity to the western world. What color was Jesus Christ?…
Her father was happy that she was so amazing and so like his wife in grace, but less than thrilled with all of the men who wanted for her. Her stepmother was, blatantly, unhappy about the girl. She would ask her magic mirror – as all women get as wedding presents from their witch mothers – who the fairest woman was in all the land. Usually, it would say, “You of course.” This was before Snow White turned thirteen and starting bleeding with the moon. Snow White’s stepmother asked the mirror who was the fairest woman in all the land and it answered, “You queen are very fair but Snow White is the fairest in the land.” The queen was enraged. She threw a tantrum that any toddler would marvel at. She decided that the girl had to be killed. She hired a burly huntsman to kill her. The huntsman wrapped Snow White in a potato sack, threw her over his horse, and rode into the compulsory, mysterious, fairytale…
In the bible story “Adam and Eve”, Eve is tempted by a snake (which represents evil) to eat the apple and ultimately suffers from the decision. This is incredibly similar to Snow White’s story. Innocent and defenseless Snow White is tempted by a source of evil to eat an apple. When she does, Snow White faces a grim result. Snow White’s misfortune however leads to rebirth. One more apparent comparison of the story of Snow White and religion is the number seven. Yes, in the movie there are seven dwarfs. However, they also live over seven mountains. In the Book of Revelations there are seven mountains as well. The prime number is duly noted religiously. Also, all of the seven deadly sins are revealed in Snow White. Although these religious symbols are the first to come to people’s attention, other ones…
On the right side, we can see Judith as she is in the act of beheading…
Both the protagonists in “Snow White” and “Red Dress” struggle with acceptance based on their appearance. The protagonist in “Snow White”, Mary, appearance as an albino affects her being accepted. An example of Mary’s appearance affecting her being accepted is when Mary reminisces of how when she was in elementary school kids used to tease her by chanting “Mary, Mary quite contrary, how’d you get so white and scary”. This shows that kids who didn’t understand her condition chose to tease her instead of trying to accept her for herself. Another example of how appearance affected Mary being accepted is when the boy at the party comes dressed up as Mary. The boy and his friend then continue to have more fun at Mary’s expense when the boy asks for a miller lite and his friend quips “you mean a miller white”. This shows rather than get to know Mary and see that she was a nice person, he and others decided to judge her solely based on her appearance and mock her by painting his face white, and wearing a Mr. Bubble shirt, obviously dressing up as Mary. The protagonist in “Red Dress” also struggles with…
Water, Bread and Light are three important symbols in John’s Gospel. How do these symbols help the Johannine community to understand the identity of Jesus?…
The bible never mentioned no description of the physical apparence of Jesus. That’s why every nation painted Jesus their own way, because the bible did not cite any detail about his color or race, and ‘’the boy painted Jesus black’’. Was he wrong? Who knows. The world has a perception of a white Christ. It is inconceivable to some people that He can be black.…
Beauty, a term once revered in ancient days as the pinnacle of physical attributes embodied in worldly entities, has seemingly in this day lost much of its meaning. Phrases like “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” have surprisingly become commonplace, and even Christians have begun to subscribe to the notion of aesthetic relativism. Specifically, this is the idea that beauty is purely contained within the observer and objects on their own have no aesthetic value in and of themselves. It is what has effectively stripped the main essence from the old ideal of beauty, and in my opinion a primary reason why there are so many who cannot see or refuse to see God in the world today.…
The significances behind Christmas and Easter correlate one with another by Christmas being Jesus’ birthday and Easter being Jesus’ victory over death. In a way, Christians believe that Christ was born and then born again from the dead. God sent his only begotten son to save the people of their sins. He implanted the Virgin Mary with child to give birth to the long-awaited Savior on Christmas. God’s prophesy of his son’s resurrection was then fulfilled and celebrated on Easter. Some highlights of the Christmas story are that when Mary was ready to give birth, there was no rooms available for her so she delivered Jesus in a manger, in a barn. The New Star was shining so bright, three wise men were guided to Bethlehem to give gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh. Easter highlights include the last supper and the betrayal of…
Not being able to live your life the way you would like to is something I have never experienced, but Snow White experiences is firsthand in an extreme way. Her step-mother, Ravenna, takes away her freedom by locking her up for most of her childhood. Snow white isn’t allowed to live her life how she wants to, but how she is allowed to, being held hostage. The movie depicts everything as very dark and…
It is said that small people worship personalities but great people worship ideas I, too, like a person but because of his ideas. The person I like is own my father. He is a man of balanced personality with a heart full of love and a mind teeming with sublime thoughts. Fair complexion smooth forehead black curly hair and a pointed nose that shows his strong will power are the main traits of his external appearance. He is a teacher by profession. He is a devoted and diligent works. He is not a book worm. But he spends most of his time in the wise company of his sagacious friends. People like to seek guidance from him. He is always ready to help the needy. His charming face reveals his fascinatiog manners. He is a man of balanced personality. You cannot call him a conservative. Nor can he be called too liberal. He is tolerant, broad minded and optimist. His views about different matters of this world are impartial. Though a true Muslim, he believes in the religion of humanity. He says that love for everyman irrespective of his caste, creed and country should be the essence of every religion. He hates but only one thing i. e, prejudice. He condemns ‘mullahism’ that encourages who mindedness and fuels violent emotions. But he loves religious scholars who spend their time in guiding people and reforming their morals and manners. To him it is the mullah who encourages terrorism, suicide bombing and sectarianism. But the real religious scholar who understands the true spirit of the teachings of Islam never indulge in such heinous activities. Similar is his approach to politics. He advocates equality and fraternity among different classes…
