The Importance of Training in an Organization
Training is an attempt to improve current or future performance. It is important for new or present employees. It is related to present job competencies. It has a current orientation and helps employee master specific competencies needed to be successful (Ivancevich, 2010).
Training is an important requirement for organizations to undertake because it is the systematic process of altering the behavior of employees in a direction that will achieve organization goals through giving employees the knowledge and skills they need to continue to make a positive contribution to the company. Also, it helps employees do their current work better and enhances organization effectiveness, productivity, and the quality of the management of people.
I have attended many training sessions throughout the years both centralized and decentralized. I have found most to be successful in teaching me a trait that I needed at that time in my career. For example, my company mission was set at $US 1 billion revenue in three year ago. In order to achieve mission, CEO made organizational change. One of the most executive jobs was employee development plan through training. I and my colleagues have attended a lot of training courses and our competencies have improved a lot in last three years. The several best training courses were change for growth, mindset transformation, coaching and motivating skills, and leadership skills. Improvement of employees’ competencies has contributed to effectiveness in my organization and made my company achieve the goals.
In conclusion, training is an investment in human capital and it is important for success and growth of an organization.
