A country that people from all over flock to for freedom and protection. This country’s stance on how to defeat ISIS and the actions they are taking towards it do not demonstrate this ideology at all. Overall, its own citizens say that the country has not done enough to combat this force and that they feel less safe because of it (Dutton, 2014). When a country’s own people do not think enough is being done, then the rest of the world must also have the same view. President Obama is “a prisoner of his own ideology that the west has been oppressive to Muslims” so therefore he does not feel the need to take more action than he already has (Allen, 2014). He will not do what is right because of his fear of offending a different group. When a president is looked at in this way by his own people and the rest of the world, this shows weakness and lack of leadership. America does not need to be looked at in this way when they are supposed to be the most powerful force on earth. Even though some actions are being taken, it is not nearly enough and even ISIS itself is not intimidated by America’s actions or threats (Bolton, 2014). The targeted group does not feel that they are in any danger from the United States. If the ultimate goal is to defeat this group, that can not be accomplished when they do not feel intimidated. So obviously they are going to have to be eliminated at some point in the future. ISIS is a “cancer”, it can not be managed so it must be removed before it spreads (Allen, 2014). Without powerful attacks, the group is only going to continue to grow in strength and spread. Everyday the war against ISIS drags on, creating more time for an attack against the west to happen (Weick, 2015). Because the group only gets stronger as time goes on, this gives them more of an opportunity to attack America on its own soil. No amount of wishful thinking or “political cowardice” can change the fact that America is at war (Bolton, 2014). Government officials like to live in a fantasy world and pretend that the country is at peace, when in reality this is not the case at all. The country is at war, so stronger military action needs to happen to end it once and for
