'The Joker In The Batman Show Harlequinade'
The Not So Joking Joker The Joker may be smiling constantly, but that is the face of a cold hearted man. As a result of the Joker’s dominant id psyche, he should not be released into a society because of his unstable thoughts and actions. The Joker’s deranged thoughts and actions show that he should not be in any communities. For example, he doesn’t show any feelings toward anyone in his life. In the Batman episode “Harlequinade”, the Joker threatens to drop a bomb on Gotham City, destroying it. After Harley confronts him, something more sinister comes to light. The timer for the bomb shows that the Joker wouldn’t have anytime to save anyone. None of his friends, not even his own girlfriend. This illustrates that the Joker can and will kill

    A significant trial shown in the film is when the Joker gave Batman two choices, whether to save Gotham’s white knight Harvey Dent or his childhood friend Rachel Dawes. In the film, the Joker purposely locked himself up making the police think they were in power. However in reality, this is exactly what the Joker wanted. While in custody, Batman interrogates the Joker. With Harvey and Rachel nowhere to be found Batman tries to get their location from the Joker. In this scene Batman asks why he wants to kill him, but the Joker lets out his hysterical laugh. The Joker explains that he doesn’t wish to kill him, the Batman completes him. He goes on trying to get in Batman’s head telling him he’s just a freak like himself, and to not act like ‘’one of them.’’ He proceeds to explain saying that they only need you right now, but when they don’t they’ll cast him out. The Joker states that ‘’I’m not a monster… I’m just ahead of the curve.’’ Batman physically threatens him and beats the Joker up yelling ‘’Where are they?!” however the Joker is clearly constantly in control. Batman and Harvey (before he becomes Two-Face) both believe in the fairness of justice; they believe that the bad should be punished and the innocent should be protected. Two-Face also believes in fairness. He believes that “the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased. Unprejudiced. Fair” (The Dark Knight). Essentially, Two-face takes hold of chance as being the ultimate fairness. Decision making based on chance doesn’t take people’s actions into account; it just decides randomly, and randomness is fair. After all, Harvey was an incredibly just man. And what did he get for it? The death of his girlfriend, Rachel. Looking at the Joker, we can see that he also follows a definition of fairness when he says, “I'm an agent of chaos. And you know the thing about chaos, Harvey?     The character I decided to pschoanlayze was “ The Joker” from the movie “ The Dark Knight” played by Heath Ledger. The Joker was a very strange character who sometimes showed no reasom to his actions. He had an sense of humor that nobody understands and his appeareacne is quite frightening.
