After watching the movie I did not enjoy how it did not show the struggle Amir has when he is bringing Sohrab to America. I felt despair when the movie skips an entire chapter full of exciting portions the book has. In the book it tells how Sohrab struggled to accept to go to America with Amir. When Amir first asks Sohrab about going to America, Amir says, “he didn’t answer” and just “sobbed into” Amir’s “shirt” (320). Also, when Sohrab finds out that he will be sent back to an orphanage he goes to the bathroom and cuts his wrists with a razor. Amir says, “I wondered what his last thought had been as he had raised the blade and brought it down” (351). In the end Sohrab luckily survived, Dr. Nawaz says, “He is alive” to Amir (348). Then they leave for America to live their lives peacefully
The aspects that were not shown in the movie would seem like a different story for someone who has not read the book. Since Sohrab life almost at an end and whether he would go to America or live the rest of his life an orphan who will never find happiness. With these scenes missing in the movie the story has a different meaning than the book. Also the book is based off a true story, then it changes the character’s story and causes a distortion of the way of thinking. In my opinion, it would be like Sohrab dying and the creators of the movie skipping to the end of a happy
