The Last Dog Analysis

In the short story the last dog by Katherine Patterson the main character brock who was born and lived in a futuristic dome where the superiors had made the image to the residents that outside of the dome is a destroyed barren and dead waste land and that everything is poisoned including the air and nothing is able to live. My opinion is that I found the story interesting but lacking in certain parts that made it sound stupid and very awkward in certain parts of the story.
The plot of the story is that Brock left the dome saying his reasons were for research and found leaves that fell from a tree and a brook with water flowing down as well as a dog that he found lying beside its dead mother. He brought back the dog and returns back to the dome after naming him Borg and bringing him back to the dome upon the look towards the dog the superiors and scientists wanted to clone the dog and experiment on him but brock faked having rabies on both on them and was to leave with the dog. When he got out side he took off his suit and learned that the air is breathable and the water was drinkable.
The characters are brock a person who was born in a tube from cloning in a futuristic dome and post nuclear war he is curious and has a unique personality the other character is a dog named Borg that brock found outside
he did this to avoid getting Borg cloned and experimented on to see why he has survived and since the scientists thought they owed the dogs because they thought they were all extinct and wanted to make it to where there were more dogs alive to avoid it spreading they let to them out of the dome so the residents wouldn't get rabies even though that they thought that Borg was the last dog
