In the period 1896 – 1915, the condition of Italy was relatively in a terrible state in many ways with various political, economic and social problems that hindered the country’s progress. Italy’s Liberal Governments during this period were generally very unsuccessful in dealing with these inherited and growing problems clearly contributing to the end of Liberalism in Italy. He would not stop stressing the importance of patience in order for the people to understand that he is not making a promise that is not going to happen. I would say only that if some of my Judgments were wrong, and some were wrong, they were made in what I believed at the time to be the best interest of the Nation. To those who have stood with me during these past difficult months, to my family, my friends, to many others who joined in supporting my cause because they believed it was right, I will be eternally grateful for your support. And to those who have not felt able to give me your support, let me say I leave with no bitterness toward those who have opposed me, because all of us, in the final analysis, have been concerned with the good of the country, however our judgments might differ. So, let us all now join together in affirming that common commitment and in helping our new President succeed for the benefit of all Americans. I shall leave this office with regret at not completing my term, but with gratitude for the privilege of serving as your President for the past 5 ½ years. These years have been a momentous time in the history of our Nation and the world. They have been a time of achievement in which we can all be proud, achievements that represent the shared efforts of the Administration, the Congress, and the people. But the challenges ahead are equally great, and they, too, will require the support and the efforts of the Congress and the people…

Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s “The Yellow Wallpaper” written as a first person journal entry is a great example of symbolism in the literature. It was written during early-to-mid nineteenth century positions female imprisonment within domestic sphere. The narrator sets the wallpaper as a symbol of protagonist state of the mind. Although on some occasions Giuliani does employ a series of logical appeals, most of his messages seem to be more emotionally based in order to captivate the audience in comprehending when the time for action and retaliation is. On the logical aspects of his speech, Giuliani makes various suggestions to the UN General Assembly that counterterrorism measures must be adopted on a global scale to prevent attacks like this from ever occurring. Moreover, this speaks to the fundamental political aspects of Giuliani’s position because his oration essentially becomes an advocacy for sweeping defense reform in all of the world’s gateways. Additionally, Giuliani continues his activism in showing his support for shutting off the economic foundations of terrorist organizations. Giuliani’s logical stance on terrorist funding is explained by the quote, “By taking away their ability to mass large amounts of money, you take away their ability to have others carry on their functioning for them even if they're removed, arrested, prosecuted, or eliminated through war or through law enforcement” (Giuliani 3). But amidst all of the logical appeals Giuliani conveys to the audience, his speech is targeted to the audience more by emotional appeals. Through his tone and rhetorical devices, Giuliani understands that his role as a…
