Rude- he said no when Jessie wanted to help his lemonade stand. He also told Jessie he didn’t want her in the same class as him.
Selfish- he told Scott not to pour a lot of lemonade in but he poured a lot for himself too.
Jessie:
Thoughtful- she kept wanting to help Evan even though he kept saying no
Nervous/excited- Jessie was willing to be in the same class as Evan but Evan and Scott kept telling Jessie reasons why skipping a grade is bad Evan is an independent person when it comes to having to be with his sister Jessie. On page 65, Jessie wanted to bet with Evan to start a competition and see who can make the most money before the fireworks started on the 4th of July. Evan and Jessie were arguing about Jessie going into 4th grade with Evan and how Evan wouldn’t like to be with her in his class next year. He also didn’t like that Megan (his friend) was helping Jessie sell lemonade. He didn’t want Jessie with Megan because he didn’t want to embarrass himself because he had his little sister with her. On the day of the 4th of July before the fireworks, Evan and Jessie wanted to call the war off. Which meant that no one wins or loses. (The Lemonade War, 125) Jessie thought about what she had said in the beginning, and how she created the war by arguing with Evan. She was disappointed. Another reason is Jessie made a mistake. She didn’t tell Megan she was in a lemonade war so it made it hard for Jessie to earn money. Jessie promised Megan that all their earnings from selling lemonade would be donated to the Animal Rescue League. (The Lemonade War, 63) Furthermore, she was thinking what would happen if Jessie lost Evan in the war. Jessie would have to give Evan ALL her earnings to Evan. Which meant that Jessie would not have enough money to donate to the Animal Rescue
