The Liar
In-Depth Theatre Paper
The plot of the play was based back into the mid 1600’s. A man by the name of Dorante was portrayed as a compulsive liar in this play and found himself forgetting his lie or either getting caught up in them. Only in the end when he really had no other choice did he begin to tell the truth and with his truth, he found love.
The acting of the play was very elaborate as well as dramatic. I really believed the characters. Since the play was considered a comedy, the actors were very funny and it was effortless for them to come off as funny. Although it was a play dating back to the 1600’s, the actors used a lot of current lingo which I enjoyed. It made it a lot easier for me to follow what was going on. …show more content…
I wondered how the actors would be able to fully perform with such a small space. As the play began I realized that they really didn’t need a large space to do their job. I came to find out that I enjoyed the smaller space. It made the actors interact with the audience and it made me feel like I was apart of the production as well.
For the scenery there were curtains that were used to create outside as well as inside backgrounds. There were a couple of props that were used such as a bench, makeup vanity and a gate. I don’t want to call them boxes but something that looked like boxes that were used as windows and doors were also used during this
