Episcopalian and sent him to Heritage Christian School for a majority of his school years. He went there from first grade through tenth grade. It is there where he got his hatred for Christianity and love of “the wrong things.” Manson’s delinquency in Christian school is a major part of what led to who he was. He would create sex magazines and sell them at school, sell people rock albums and then steal them

back out of their lockers and would attempt to sleep around. As well as many other things to get expelled, but to no avail. His eleventh grade year he was moved to a local public school,
Another thing that shaped Manson, was his introduction to sexual things at an extremely young age. His first introduction was when he was snooping around in his Grandfather Jack Warner’s basement. He and his friend Chad found a plethora of fetish magazines that included fetishes such as beastiality and maschisim. Not too long later, his neighbor had begun to molest him. This went on for a pretty lengthy chunk of time. That was until he broke down one night and told his mom everything. His neighbor was then sent to military camp as a punishment.
A big thing Manson is known for is his drug use and advertisement of drug use. This started shortly after he was moved from Christian school to a public school, GlenOaks. In his autobiography, Long Hard Road Out of Hell, he details many stores of drug use such as; marijuana, acid, cocaine, heroin, and many other drugs. As well as stating that his drug abuse has lead to his good health. The majority of his public schooling seemed to be all sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Nonetheless, he did graduate from GlenOaks.
After Manson graduated, his family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is where he met Scott Putesky, also known by stage name Daisy Berkowitz, and . They moved on to form the band “Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kid.” The band’s final line up consisted of Manson, Berkowitz and a few other band

members that went by the names Madonna Wayne Gacy, Sara Lee Lucas, and Gidget Gein. Other members included Olivia Newton Bundy and Zsa Zsa Speck. All of their names derived from a pop culture figure and a serial killer
The Spooky Kids released a bunch of cd’s under that name. The first one being released in the early nineties. However, as they grew, they began to fall apart. The first member to leave was Gein. His heroin addiction got too bad for him to be reliable for the show. Lucas was next because he and Manson had a falling out during a tour. Berkowitz left after the band started going in a direction he didn’t like. Thus, Gacy and Manson were the only Spooks left. Enter Jeordie White, also known as Twiggy Ramirez.
Manson’s controversial music, under The Spooky Kids and his stage name, has made him a scapegoat for various things. One of the biggest being that his music influenced the shooters of the Columbine Massacre. He was actually interviewed for the movie Bowling For Columbine. Manson’s response to the accusations were as follows: “I think that's really ironic, that nobody said 'well maybe the President had an influence on this violent behavior'. Because that's not the way the media wants to take it and spin it, and turn it into fear. Because then you're watching television, you're watching the news, you're being pumped full of fear, there's floods, there's AIDS, there's murder, cut to commercial, buy the Acura, buy the Colgate, if you have bad breath they're not going to talk to you, if you have pimples, the girl's not going to fuck you, and it's just this campaign of

fear, and consumption, and that's what I think it's all based on, the whole idea of 'keep everyone afraid, and they'll consume.'”
Manson has also been the center of numerous law cases. The first of which his former bassist and friend, Gidget Gein, sued for royalties. The court ruling in Gein’s favor. Another former band member, Berkowitz, filled a fifteen-million dollar lawsuit. The case was in Berkowitz’s favor and he was awarded an undisclosed amount. He has been sued by hotels and venues for damage. Manson was then sued for the death of Jennifer Syme, the plaintiff stating he had advised her to drive while under copious amounts of illegal drugs. The case was dismissed. None of those have hindered Manson in his rise in fame.
He has also been accused of causing suicides. A more known one being the one in 2009, where an eighth grader tried to shoot his teacher and attempt suicide. All because the teacher refused to praise Manson. No one died. The eighth grader was in critical care because of a self inflicted bullet wound.
Not only famous for music, he also is an actor, director, and a painter. Manson made his acting debut in 1977, playing in David Lynch’s Lost Highway. Currently, although touring with Slipknot and Of Mice And Men, his focus has shifted to acting in more recent times. This was caused by his roles in tv shows he had scored. These included Californication and Sons of Anarchy. He also recently joined onto the Salem cast as a guest role Manson has been working on his directorial debut for a long time now.
His movie, Phantasmagoria: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll, has been running into developmental problems since 2005/6. It was originally said to release in mid 2007, but nothing has been spoken about it in recent year. The movie is supposed to depict author Lewis Carroll’s life, with Manson portraying him.
Marilyn Manson’s art career actually began with watercolor painting in 1999. However, it was extremely unprofessional at the point. He made five art pieces and sold them to drug dealers. In the 2000’s, Manson had his first art show, entitled The Golden Age of Grotesque, was held at the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions Center. He has also put on shows in Paris and Berlin. Manson started a self proclaimed art movement, which he called Celebritarian Corporation. It is also the name of Manson’s Los Angeles art gallery. Although Manson is widely seen as a bad influence, he has won a number of awards. These include a Lifetime Achievement award, from Kerrang, and Video Music Award, from MTV. He has also been nominated for four Grammys since 1998. As well as, four more nominations for the Video Music Awards prior to
1999.
