In 1948 there was a short story published in The New Yorker Magazine By Shirly Jackson. called The Lottery. The Lottery is a fiction story. On June 27, it was a clear sunny morning. It is 10am and the village. They gathered for the lottery. There was only 300 people in the town gathering. The lottery takes place at town square by the bank and the post office. The village is big into farming. At 10 o’clock the lottery starts. The head of the household draws by name in alphabetical order. All of the Men open their card at the same time. One of the important similarities is that Tessie was the one that got stoned. This is an important similarity because if they change that it could be a whole different family that could have been drawn. One of the similarities is the process and the equipment what the same. The first major difference is that there is more details in the story than the movie. This is a major difference because it can change the mood of the reader if there is a big difference in the story. The next major difference is that there are more pictural moments in the movie than there is in the story. There is more because in the movie it actually shows and describes her getting stoned. Another difference is when in the story they give lil Davy pebbles in the story and in the movie they gave him rocks..
