The Mark Of Athena Book Report
I decided to select, The Mark of Athena, for my book report because of the writing style the author, Rick Riordan, decides to use, which creates suspense and heavy-action in a relaxed state causing you to never drop the book unless you’re forced to. I appointed this book for my book report over Riordan’s other books because this book contained more action and displays the perspectives of all seven of the main characters who all have different personalities, thus making for a book that can suit many different people. The cover draws my attention because it captures everything that occurs in the book onto one image. The story begins with the seven demi-gods leaving to find the giants who are attempting to destroy Rome, and ultimately the gods. While Gaea sends her worst monsters toward them, Athena sends Annabeth on a separate quest in order to restore peace between the Greeks and the Romans. Athena sends Annabeth on this …show more content…
Percy Jackson transforms from a Greek to a Roman and then decides to establish himself as Greek but with some Roman qualities. The other main characters in the novel look up to Percy as their hero for saving them from the wrath of Cronus and the Titans, while Gaea and her monsters conclude that he, not the gods, are their most feared enemy. Percy has many great strengths which include: combat, Language and communication Skills, ability to create earthquakes, hurricanes, and water. The character does not seem at all real considering the inhumane abilities they seem to possess and the fact that one of their parents is a god removes every possibility of this character to seem real. The character grows throughout the story as he is presented these situations that he must adapt to in order to survive and prevail and ultimately learns what it takes to succeed. I feel this character is essential to the defeat of Gaea and her monsters and without him they wouldn’t be able to do

This all happened in New Rome in Camp Jupiter. I fired on it without knowing. Now I got a fortune cookie from Nemesis, the goddess of revenge. It can save me or kill me. Percy is not just like Perseus because their names sound alike. They are alike in other ways as well. Like Perseus, Percy was saved because he had a god watching over him. In “ The Great Heroes Before the Trojan War” it says, “ But Perseus was saved from his folly. Two great gods were watching over him.”(Hamilton 145). This same thing happened to Percy when he was battling Anabeth. She had beaten him up pretty badly and Percy had lay there…

In book 7 and 8, Athena alters how Odysseus appears to others. In book 7, Odysseus has arrived in Phaeacia and makes his way to the King’s palace. During his walk, the narrator explains how Athena alters Odysseus’s appearance: “Pallas Athena, harboring kindness for the hero, drifted a heavy mist around him, shielding him from any swaggering islander who’d cross his path… [and] search out who he was” (VII.16-19). Here, Athena tries to help Odysseus by concealing him during his journey by surrounding him with mist. Mist conceals or hides objects that would otherwise be visible. This shows that Odysseus wants to be hidden from other people, and is not ready to be in the public eye yet. The narrator also explains the mist shields him from the islanders.…

Percy Jackson is the main protagonist of the last Olympian. Percy isn’t greed at because he turned down god hood. “Oh, not you although I suppose I should wonder turning down immorality” (Riordan, 355) after defeating Kronos he was given a offer to be a god. He is also funny “With great power... comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later”. Making funny remark and one liner makes him a funny character in general, this funny one liner was said after he obtained the curse of Achilles and they were outside the underworld. When I was deciding on a character, right away I chose Athena. I chose Athena because I believe she is the most interesting (besides Odysseus) character in the book. Speaking of Athena, Athena is a very important character in the first few chapter of the Odyssey. She is the one who puts Odysseus's son on the path to find Odysseus and learn what is his faith. She did this by showing up to Odysseus’s house in human form and convincing Telemakhos to call all of his mothers suitors in front of the gods and try to convince them to leave. When that didn't work “Athena was nearby and came to him, putting on Mentor’s figure and his tone,” and told him that she will find him a boat She told him to sneak out of the house and go down to the docks to…

A famous Greek poet named Homer once wrote, “Her gray eyes clear, the goddess Athena answered, ‘Down from the skies I come to check your rage If only you will yield.’” With intelligence beyond everyone’s years and the graceful ferocity of a lion protecting her territory in battle, may athena’s wisdom forever rain down on mankind from the peak of Mount Olympus. Even though the other gods and goddesses proved to be powerful in their own way, Athena the Maiden Parthenos, Goddess of Wisdom & Battle is superior among the Olympians.…

Athena was the goddess of power and wisdom, and she cared a lot for Odysseus, who was struggling to find his way back home, so she helped him in some difficult situations. However, she was kind of passive while he was fighting, letting him fight his own battles as she sat back and watched him prevail. She also helped Telemachus so he could earn a name for himself in battle. She is confident, smart, a great warrior, and she is also the goddess of the womanly arts. Athena lived on Mount Olympus with all the other Greek gods, and she was a big supporter of Odysseus while the other gods debated whether to help him. Athena also has an important role in the town she live in as an protector from all enemies. Athena got her name from another town name…

Athena (Roman name: Minerva), goddess of wisdom and battle strategy, is one of the most beloved and well known gods of the Greek myths. According to Greek mythology, Athena sprang from the head of Zeus, fully grown and wearing battle attire. Athena is always portrayed with her armor and helmet, carrying her shield and lance. Athena is also a gifted craftsman; she created the bridle to tame horses, along with many other crafts and useful objects. Her favorite bird is the owl, which is the symbol of wisdom, watchfulness and the hunt. Athena made all of her followers live a life of purity, and she created a big impact on Greece’s history. On of the most famous myths involving Athena is the origination of the city of the Athens’ symbol. The story begins when Poseidon and Athena have a dispute over who is to rule Athens. Whoever greats the best symbol to represent the city would become patron god or goddess. Poseidon, god of the sea, produced a freshwater spring for the Acropolis. Athena chose to present an olive tree, one of her many symbols. Because olive trees are deemed very useful, Athena became crowned patron goddess of Athens, and she has been ever since.…

Women in Ancient Greece were often seen as inferior and unintelligent, they quite rarely made impacting decisions. Women were not allowed to own property or have a job that could earn them real money, they legally belonged to their father or husband. Despite the lack of power women had in Ancient Greece, Homer did not take that into account while writing. In The Odyssey, women are critical to Odysseus’ trials, and successes.…
