I cannot imagine what would’ve happened if we didn’t have a director. They’re the ones who have a huge impact on the play. I learned that there’s no such thing as a bad director and a good director. People have different views, for example if the actor’s idea doesn’t match with the director’s point of view, we don’t have the right to assume that the director is bad. Some directors may need more time and experience to learn the theatre. Everyone learns from their past mistakes. I observed that the director’s job isn’t as easy as it may seem for some people. A director should always be present during the full process of the play, read the play in advance, plan everything logically so that it matches the concept of the play. In brief, some good skills and qualities a director should possess are: organizational skills, excellent communication skills, motivation/inspiring the actors, punctuality, positive attitude, problem solving, creativity (plays a major role), open-minded (open to new ideas). I strongly believe that creativity is very important because it doesn’t limit the director’s ideas and it impresses the audience. An excellent communication skill is a must because we spent 90% of our time talking to each other about our plans and ideas to contribute into this play. The directors should be open-minded because then they’d see things from a different perspective which can be quite useful and applicable. Even if the new idea doesn’t apply into the play, it’s polite to listen to other’s ideas. However, as I’ve mentioned, it isn’t easy to be a director. One of the stressful situations my director had to face were the disagreements with my co-actor. He’d say “apples”, the other would say “oranges”. Then, the director had to explain and prove him why “apples” suited better than “oranges” did. Gladly, things didn’t rise to the boiling point. Then, I learned that another great quality a director has to
