The Mindful Attention And Awareness Scale
Mindfulness is a mental state which is achieved by intentionally focusing on what you are experiencing in the present moment (Coffey & Hartman, 2008). It is a powerful tool that can add clarity and build a connection to these experiences. The act of mindfulness has been strongly linked with well-being and happiness (Brown & Ryan, 2003).
The Mindful Attention and Awareness Scale (MAAS) is survey that consist of 15 statements. Participants are asked to indicate from one (almost never) to six (almost always) how frequently they experience each activity.     Great job summarizing and including the important aspects of mindfulness made by Jon Kabat-Zinn. I agree that mindfulness channels awareness and acknowledges the present moment. When we become aware in the present, we focus less on the regrets of the past or the worries of the future.
