Based on the real life story, Chris Gardner goes through many challenges to become a stockbroker. Even though the title is The Pursuit of Happyness , Chris faces many depressing times and sad ones as well. The movie focuses on an average African American man chasing his dreams while taking care of his son. Just when you think things are getting better for Chris, they only get worse. As
Chris and his son Christopher move from place to place to eventually being homeless, the audience often starts to wonder if Chris and his son will ever make it out of this stage in their life.

When Chris was having no luck selling scanners, he knew he needed to try harder because making his wife Linda work double shifts was not helping. Soon enough, Chris was out trying to sell his scanners and came across a man in a suit and asked him what he did for a living. The man replied that he was a stockbroker and you didn’t need a college degree to be one, just needed to know how to use numbers and be a people person. From there on out, Chris Gardner had a huge dream to be a stockbroker. Chris showed he wanted the job so bad that he even kept going to the office and talking to Jay Twistle, Human Resources Head at Dean Witter. He made this decision to give Christopher and himself a better life and not have to worry about money or a home.
Just when Chris gets an internship at Dean Witter, he finds out he won’t be getting paid for it. After Chris finds out he is not getting paid for the internship, he has second thoughts on if he still
