I think that Henry’s Id was his natural state and his ego/superego was his learned state. When he began recovering from his shots, Henry didn’t remember the kind of person he was before. For example, he started being polite to his maid and co-workers by thanking them, saying please, and treating others with respect. He began wanting to spend time with his family. Before he was shot, he was rude to his workers, never gave attention to his family, and made decisions in his work based on what would get him more money. Henry’s superego was developed in a harsh way and completely took over the id, and that is why he was the mean person her was. For example, he judged the Mr. Matthews case with no regards to how this could affect the Matthew’s life. Also, he disregarded his wife so much that she began cheating on him and he started cheating on her. All of these traits disappeared after he got shot because he forgot all of the traits that made up his superego, which were his rude, stern, workaholic, actions.
