As Petri Liukkonen states in “Guy de Maupassant…” “Latin has believed that his wife's jewelry were fakes”(Guy 3). Like in “The Necklace” Mathilde lost a necklace that looked priceless to her when she first got sight of it. But at the very end of the story she finds the heart breaking truth, and that was that the necklace was a fake. Also later on Petri Liukkonen points out that i ones of Guy’s stories he “ sets fire to his own house, to destroy his Horla, but only his servants died in the fire”(Guy 4). Him not giving his servants a warning he only saves himself. In Mathildes mind she was the only she had to worry about, because for her she came in front of everybody. In the whole story “The Necklace” Mathilde asked for a dress if he wanted her to go to the dance. So Loisel got his 400 francs he was saving up for a rifle and gave it to her. Explaining one of guy’s short story “The Jewels of M. Lantin ”(Guy 3) “He takes her necklace to a jeweler who tells him that it is very valuable.” In “The Necklace” when Loisel went the the jeweler to find out how much the necklace cost he told Loisel that it was worth 40 thousand francs. But Loisel got the jeweler to lower it down to 36 thousand francs. Researchers found that not everybody wants to cooperate and that is the selfish side of humans. But in everybody there is still that part of them like an angel that they want to cooperate but are afraid to show it to others. In other news researchers have done a variety series of experiments, and have found that people that selfishness strategies are more successful than others.
