The Nervous System
The nervous system is a very complex system in the body. It has many, many parts. The nervous system is divided into two main systems, the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system. The spinal cord and the brain make up the CNS. Its main job is to get the information from the body and send out instructions. The peripheral nervous system is made up of all of the nerves and the wiring. This system sends the messages from the brain to the rest of the body. The brain keeps the body in order. It helps to control all of the body systems and organs, keeping them working like they should. The brain also allows us to think, feel, remember and imagine. In general, the brain is what makes us behave as human beings.

The brain communicates with the rest of the body through the spinal cord and the nerves. They tell the brain what is going on in the body at all times. This system also gives instructions to all parts of the body about what to do and when to do it.
Nerves divide many times as they leave the spinal cord so that they may reach all parts of the body. The thickest nerve is 1 inch thick and the thinnest is thinner than a human hair. Each nerve is a bundle of hundreds or thousands of neurons (nerve cells). The spinal cord runs down a tunnel of holes in your backbone or spine. The bones protect it from damage. The cord is a thick bundle of nerves, connecting your brain to the rest of your

The central nervous system (CNS) consists of the brain and the spinal cord. The CNS receives sensory information from other parts of the body or the body's external environment and transmits motor information to other parts of the body by way of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The PNS of the human includes 31 pairs of spinal nerves and 12 pairs of cranial nerves. Some nerves contain only motor nerve fibers (efferent fibers); some nerves contain only sensory nerve fibers (afferent fibers); and some nerves contain both sensory and motor nerve fibers (mixed). All spinal nerves are mixed. Cranial nerves…

The first system of the human body is the nervous system. The nervous system is made up of two parts: the central nervous system, which includes the brain and the spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system, which consists of neurons found all over the body. A person’s brain is like a control room. It helps regulate all the other systems of the body by sending signals down the spinal cord and through the body nerves to all the other organs. In addition, the brain has different parts which specialize in processing thoughts, memories, feelings, dreams, speech, physical coordination, balance, hunger, and sleep. The fact that the nervous system is extremely complicated, without it, your systems in your body could not communicate.…

The nervous system is a complex collection of nerves and specialized cells known as neurons that transmit signals between different parts of the body. Animals with backbones and spinal columns have a central and a peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system is made up of the brain, spinal cord and retina. The peripheral nervous system consists of sensory neurons, ganglia and nerves that connect to one another and to the central nervous system. The human nervous system consists of many structures. We distinguish between the central- and the peripheral nervous system. The two major subdivisions of the central nervous system are the brain and the spinal cord, which is found in the spinal column. The peripheral nervous system consists of the nerves outside the brain and the spinal cord.…

Inside our brain, there is this system called the human nervous system. There are two types of nervous systems: the peripheral and central nervous systems. The peripheral nervous system includes the nerves connecting the central nervous system to the rest of the body. It has two subdivisions: somatic nervous system and autonomic nervous system. Somatic nervous system controls skeletal muscles and interacts with the external environment. An example is walking through a park. You are using your motor nerves, which relay messages from the central nervous system, to all the skeletal muscles of your body. The autonomic nervous system regulates the body’s internal environment, which consists of organs, glands, and blood vessels. An example is breathing.…

The biggest part of the brain is cerebrum. The cerebrum is the thinking part of the brain and it controls the voluntary muscles, the ones that move when you want them to. When one is thinking hard, trying to solve a math problem or trying to figure out a video game, one is using the cerebrum. (Kidshealth, n.d.) The cerebrum is made up two sides, the left and right hemispheres. The right half of the cerebrum controls the left side of the body and the left side controls the right side. These two are connected by long neuron branches called the Corpus Callosum. Each hemisphere has four lobes; The frontal lobe is associated with reasoning, planning, movement, emotions and problem solving. The parietal lobe is associated with tactile sensory information such as pressure, touch, and pain. The temporal lobe is associated with the…

The nervous system comprises the central nervous system which is made up of the brain and spinal cord, with the main functions being processing information and determining responses and the peripheral nervous systems which is made up of all sensory, motor and inter neurons within the body and these are located on peripheral nerves. All of them work together to collect sensory data and also control the actions of the body. Sensory neurons collect sensory information and convey it to the brain, and motor neurons transmit the necessary signals to receptive tissues whilst inter neurons create circuits which creates communication pathways between the central nervous system and the two other neuron types. There are many sub neurons that fall under…

Scientists have constantly been striving to better understand the brain and how it functions. The brain is an amazing organ that controls and moderates so many different things. Your body temperature, your reasoning, your dreams, your movement, your blood rate, it accepts massive amounts of information from your different senses, (seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting), and it does all this in a way that we hardly even know it is happening.…
