Meanwhile, in the video, the spike is only merely sharpened. This detail helps with the pain and distraught the choice of weaponry can have on a being. Another difference occurs when the men attempt to escape from the giant's cave to safety. In the movie, it shows in order to complete this task they simply dodge the giant's grasp, as he looks for them blindly. However, in the poem, Odysseus creates a more elaborate plan that involves the men riding out holding the skin of the sheep above their heads. By doing so, it tricks the giant into believing he's letting out the sheep. The poem also states that Odysseus taunts Polyphemus repeatedly for multiple times, yet in the video, the giant is insulted only once.
Ultimately, in both versions Odysseus escapes successfully with little to no men injured. However, his prideful actions entail him to be doomed by the Cyclone's prayer for revenge. The epic celebrates virtues of national, military, religious, political, or historical significance. Meanwhile, the movie adaptation accomplishes the same virtues, while incorporating different elements from the original tale. The story then continues on to the events that lead up to Odysseus' journey. With these factors, we were able to easily recognize the differences to the storyline that the epic and video both
