The Pack Descriptive Writing
The Pack I looked around me, taking in the inky blackness of my surroundings, the scent of my brothers, sisters, and mother before I feel the warm, soft touch of my mother's’ tongue cleansing me. I whine, hungrily, and start to look for an open teat in which to get food from. I finally found one and begin sucking desperately before one of my siblings can take it, and sigh at the taste of the milk. I feel the warmth that is my mother and siblings around me and fall asleep, thinking that it would last forever. I wake up to the cold, nipping at my skin beneath my fur. I sigh, knowing that the warmth and the milk is a distant memory and that it was all part of my dream. I’ve been having those kinds of visions ever since I was left alone in the cold, cruel world to fend for myself, which I have been doing quite well. I yawn and shake the sleepiness from my limbs, eager to see what awaits me today. I look around, the snow crisp and bright after the blizzard. Wait, I forgot to introduce myself, I am Eclipse. My mother called me Eclipse because of how rare it is to find or have a wolf with all black fur and red eyes. One day, she thought I ran off or got took …show more content…
I go forward and jump at it, surprising it and its herd, sending them into a stampede, right at the wolf pack. But I don’t notice as I separate and chase the elk. Sooner than I expected, the elk slows and comes to a complete stop. I tackle it and deliver a deadly bite to its throat. As I am fixing to gorge myself in the elk when I hear footsteps coming toward me, fast. Running fast. I look behind me and, sure enough, the pack is coming for me. I lay low to the ground and slink into a nearby bush. When the pack arrives, they sniff around the elk. What I assume to be the alpha wolf followed the scent trail up to me and growled, knowing I was in there because of her excellent sense of smell. I curse silently to myself, wishing that I would have hidden my

3 people fell into a ditch as we were running and were slaughtered by the bear. Everyone was panicking and running, and many fell over and were attacked by the bear. My group got away by doing sharp turns and running around trees, but was badly injured. I was horrified and grabbed some leaves to help my group, but only myself, Froog, Googa, Berg, and the dogs lived, and a majority of our group was dead. We walked out of the woods, and buried the bodies.…

What gives Black Elk the courage to do this is his “sacred shirt”. Black Elk reports that heard bullets all around him, but not a single one hit him or any of his comrades as he “had no gun, and when we were charging, I just held the sacred bow out in front of me with my right hand. The bullets did not hit us at all". The opposition then runs…

Ordinarily, the sun’s light captured everything in sight like a mother hugging a child and giving it warmth. From the dark oak bed, I rose because of the unpleasant bites of mosquitoes. The Civil War is always on my mind. After a most successful battle yesterday when our soldiers all left home, relief and happiness came to mind, for there was a chance that we would win. Consequently, that would explain the surge of energy running through my body after waking up. Starting off with breakfast, I walked to my kitchen, the wood underneath my feet start to creak. The closer I walked to the kitchen, the warmer and cozier the atmosphere became. My servant, Julia, prepared breakfast for me today similar to many other days, I always wonder what will breakfast will be. Fresh eggs from my brown feathered hens were soft surrounded by creamy goat cheese, and well-cooked toast was on the plate this morning. Enjoying the meal is a morning ritual,…

The giant wolf-like black creature was so close that she could detect a red discoloration on his massive black nose. Although it appears horrendous, it did not attempt to attack her. One detail that did not fit into the monstrous scenario was the fact that even though the magical music stopped the horses remained utterly relaxed.…

When he got a little closer, he saw a very large animal who was covering an abnormally large amount of ground in a short amount of time. He describes the animal as to cover about fifteen to twenty feet in just two strides, while not running. The creature made absolutely no noticeable noise. He mentions what he saw was the creature standing seven to seven and a half feet tall and an estimated five hundred pounds in weight. He describes the creature as being muscular and covered with dark fur, with long arms and hunched over posture. The deer hunter states that the creature moved quickly down the hillside and was gone in just a few seconds. Like both of the above incidents, it happened in a wooded area which provides plenty of coverage for the…

The first hour and a half we listened to the birds and watched the squirrels eat away at the trail mix. The sight of this made me hungry so I got out my peanut butter sandwich and red Gatorade. Around 4:45, I was lightly sleeping when I heard a loud snap from a few hundred yards away. My mind began racing as I tried to figure out what could have made that noise. Every couple minutes I could hear another branch break and it was getting closer and closer. An hour later the noise had moved from a few hundred yards in front of us to less than 30 yards behind us. “Don’t move” my dad whispered. We could hear leaves crunching under the feet of whatever was behind us. The noise continued onto the path that leads right to the bait pile. I slowly turned my head to the left and saw a 325-pound bear with a furry, black coat. Instantly my breathing became heavy, my whole body was shaking and my heart was about to pound out of my chest. I grabbed by gun and raised it to my shoulder, almost dropping it from all my shaking. I rested my Remington pump shotgun on the chilly aluminum edge of the Rivers Edge tree stand. “Click” I took the safety off of my shotgun and looked down the iron sights. The bear was licking the frosting on top of the white cedar log. BANG! The bear spun and took off into the thick green underbrush and fell after 20 yards. I couldn’t believe it; I was so excited. My dad and I waited 30 minutes and then we got down from the tree stand and followed the trail to where the bear was laying. I reached down and touched the smooth, plush coat of the bear, thanking it for the meat it would provide for my…

I pulled my beanie securely on my head as I crouched down on a sturdy tree branch. My hunting knife reflected the dim light of the moon. It glinted letting my prey know I was there. "Yeah, I love a good chase!" I jumped from branch to branch as I chase my target. His brown hair was starting to gray but he ran pretty good for someone in their late forties. At least that's what boss lady said. I jumped down quietly as the man began to get tired. He began huffing as his pace slowed. I knocked into his back sending him into a tree. His chest heavily moved with his ragged breaths. I slowly approached him as I pulled my hunting knife back out. "Let play," I said in a deadpan tone. My eyes lost their light as I stared down at him.…

I could hear the blood pumping in my ears, away from the situation, and I started calming my breathing. I headed back to camp, content with trying to forget what I heard. The heavy footsteps of a creature larger than simple game. Almost as though just hiding from me, either to prepare to pounce, or to hide. What bothered me most however, was not that it was seemingly a creature who just wanted to hide, but that it hid. It sounded like a large creature, but a deer would have run, and a wolf would attack, followed by others. What was that? As I reached the campsite, the flames of my fire were softly dancing as though doing a waltz. I checked all of camp, but all the food and supplies I had gathered were gone. I headed back into the woods to the spot where I heard the rustle of leaves. The forest was still unsettlingly still, so I made the point to make my presence be known. I searched for any signs of where my belongings could have ended up. I stumbled upon a skinned deer. With that I knew I was not alone. I searched further, and found the hide on the ground near the river. I lifted it, wondering why any creature would skin a deer just to leave the hide behind not too far…

After that encounter, I settled down and calmed my nerves. I must have missed whatever it was out in the tree line. At that moment, I realized that when I’m in an unfamiliar environment, I should not just focus on one particular sense. Basically, I shouldn’t daydream. Whatever was in those woods may have been a serious threat had I been in a similar situation in a different environment. For example, what if I was on vacation in Alaska on the shore of a lake and stared off into space like that? In that environment, I could’ve been attacked by a bear.…

As we headed out of town we saw a massive buck easily 26in wide and at least a 6 by 6. We really wished it was deer season because, we would have shot him, but sadly it wasn’t. So we continued down this road hoping we’d spot a raccoon running in the ditch alongside a corn field when all of a sudden a badger came out. We swerved and missed him but that badger was mad. He tried to chase our pickup down but we went to fast for him. After the badger we decided to go on a different road somewhere out in the middle of nowhere where nobody lived and had no livestock we could hurt.…

Something weird happens. Right when I was about to leave, a herd of bisons starts running away like crazy. By the looks of it, you could already tell something bad will happen. I kicked and squirmed and fought, but the animal was unrelenting. They knocked at me with their paws and tried to bite me, but I fought back. I clamped my teeth against their shoulder like my friend Convel, a warrior wolf, taught me to. The beast didn’t relent, and continued to bash at me. But, in the middle of trying to block their windpipe, I realized that I recognized that fur, those paws, those pointed ears. I recognized their breathing pattern and the whimper in their throat. I threw them as far away as I could, curling back up against the rock to protect myself if he comes at me…

We set up and went to bed early. I could hardly sleep. The whole night is kind of a blur, but the next morning around 5:00, my dad woke me up and we all set out into the darkness. Hiking up to the area where we thought the elk would be, we saw a huge, 8 point bull elk, but it was before shooting light and we had to let him run off. After this, my dad and I found a small meadow in and sat down to wait for shooting light. As the meadow filled with light, we heard tons of shots all around, but mostly down the hill below us, we saw nothing, so after an hour or so, we moved on. After a while trekking through some thick brush, we found a clearing. The cycle of hiking, waiting, and seeing nothing repeated itself a few times. Then, in the closing minutes of daylight, we came across Kotchwar, who had downed a cow elk an hour before. We all headed back to the spike camp. Kotchwar headed back to the main camp, and my dad and me felt some disappointment watching him leave, but this had happened before and my dad had gotten an elk, so we had hope. We made these horrible MRE like things for dinner and went to bed, feeling optimistic for the coming…
