Young earth creationism is the belief that God directly created the universe, including earth and all life on earth, less than 10,000 years ago. Young earth creationists assert that this direct act by God took place in six, 24 hour days. This differs greatly from old earth creationism, which holds the belief that earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. Old earth creationists base this theory on geological time scale, different interpretations of Genesis, and various scientific dating methods. If this were true, and animals died before the fall, why does the Bible say, “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.”? Were disease, sickness, and death in the earth before the fall? Many scientists have discovered DNA in ancient fossils that are said to be millions and billions of years old. Chemistry tells us that DNA can not last for millions of years, therefore these “ancient” fossils can not be millions of years old. Rather, they are thousands of years old. Some scientists have also reported finding bacteria from the guts of ancient animals. Again, bacteria can not survive for this amount of time.
