Growing up, we have all come across a specific teacher who made his imprints on us in some way or another. Educators who mold us and help us get to where we are today. Thinking thoroughly at my younger school years, there has been one teacher who has made an impact in my life more than any other. Her name was Mrs. Hudgons. Mrs. Hudgons was my fourth grade teacher at Emerson Elementary.
I was struggling tremendously in school, and I was behind in comparison to other students. I arrived from Cuba to the United States when I was only three years old. I was very fluent in Spanish and learning a new language took me longer than most kids. Even at ten years old, I could not read or write English correctly. I had never had a teacher who was concern and took the time I needed to teach me these basics. My previous teachers simply turned to speaking to me in Spanish when I seemed to not understand them. This wasn’t beneficial to my learning process. Mrs. Hudgons was different she had a passion for teaching. She challenged me and pushed me out of my comfort zone. She got upside down if it was necessarily but she never chooses the easy way out by telling me in my native language. For that I will always be thankful for. She thought me in a year what no other teacher had in all the past school years combined.
In addition, my grades took a complete 180 turn. I went from previously suffering in academics because of my language to becoming an honor student. Thanks to Mrs. Hudgons who saw something in me I didn’t even see for myself. My weak areas became my strongest. I began to finally understand English. Even later I started to develop a new passion in reading. Ever since fourth grade I’ve received metals for my outstanding qualifications as well as certificates for achieving the highest grades in my class. I was also taken to advance classes quickly after. Mrs. Hudgons helped even at the beginner stage of my career life mold me into whom I am today. Besides helping me academically, she also helped me believe in myself
This is a great factor in being successful.
Last but not least, not only was she my teacher but also someone whom I looked up to. She is someone that up to today I am thankful to have met. I am proud of my academic achievements and I can’t hide that Mrs. Hudgons was a big factor in them. She was a great educator who truly loved her profession. It wasn’t hard to notice she was born to teach. No other teacher has had a greater imprint on me like she has.
To conclude, no one was born learning. It’s through these great people that we have all learned valuable subjects. They mold us and help build us to one day be successful. They teach the future lawyers, doctors and other professionals of the world. I am grateful for having had Mrs. Hudgons as my teacher. She was a great example of all this qualities.

However, halfway through my freshmen year my ENL teacher noticed that the material that she was given to me was too easy because I already knew it. So, they decided to put me into English 9. It was probably one of the worst struggles i’ve had to go through in High school. But I know that they did it for my own good. If it wasn’t for them, I would not know the English I know today. I was able to speak fluent English in 1 year and a half. Life for me has not been so easy. It has been an emotional rollercoaster. However, this has helped me to succeed and it has made me stronger than ever. This has encouraged me to keep pushing myself forward, and has prepared me for a new journey-…

Looking back on my education, there are plenty of teachers that I felt were effective in getting me to learn material, but I will mention just two. Teacher A was my 8th grade and 10th grade math teacher. He didn’t necessarily make math easier in any way, but he made math much more fun because you looked forward to going to his class. Teacher A always used simple jokes, often requiring a very dry humor, which made me constantly pay attention in class so I could catch his different jokes. He also had the ability to demand respect in his class without ever really enforcing anything. He was simply such an amazing teacher that everyone respected his class and no one ever acted up. Teacher B, my 8th grade science teacher, also had a big impact on my education for the better. I enjoyed going to her classes because she was able to connect with me and a few of my friends on more of a personal level. She took an interest in our lives and made sure we were all on the path toward better futures. She, unlike Teacher A, demanded respect in her classroom in more of an authoritative way. Her students knew that if they acted up, she would not skip a beat to send them to the office, resulting in very few problems.…

If you were to ask a teacher why they chose their profession, you should not be surprised to hear them say they felt called to educate the next generation. As honorable as this calling may be, it comes with great responsibility. Teachers can become overwhelmed, feeling like the weight of the world and its future rests on their shoulders. They cannot be like parents who can choose to limit their focus on investing in their own children. A teacher’s influence can be limited to their school, their classroom, and their students.…
